Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Ok...Uno is a total turd! Tried putting him in with the new babies, and he kept biting them all. NOT going to happen! He and his silkie buddy will just have to stay together for now. Butters is in there, but so much activitiy may be too tiring for him. I may move him back to the hospital ward at night for a couple of days.
My new buff baby and chick buddies will be here tomorrow morning!!

iain - help help help.
how do i try to save this baby.
i read on another thread to tie off the yolk sack with thread.
Oh wow....can you take a wet piece of paper towel and lay across the puncture site? Picture a piece of tissue a man sticks on a razor cut on his face to stop the bleeding.

ETA: Not sure if a dry piece or a wet piece is better?

i cant find the hole i think he ripped it clean open.
i put him on a wet paper towel. but theres barely any yolk left in the sack . the hole must be big it leaked out soo fast.
im literly almost in tears. i feel soo helpless

Utah: Apparently Appleyards start laying at around 24 weeks. Big fat bummer right thar. That's 8 more weeks for me. I'm not feelin' that. They are already mating with Chuck the Duck.

CG, I wish I knew what to tell you, but I don't have a clue on how to save your baby. I had that happen with a bad positioned baby but I could not save it. Sorry!!

QJ & Jaz: So 16 weeks is not too early to separate?? Could I make side by side runs for my two pairs or should they not be next to each other? Also, what size space should I make pens to lock them up at night?

Dutch, congrats!!!! I am told the eggs that contain my buff goslings had not even pipped yet as of last night.

I went ahead and separated mine so maybe they would get used to being together. There was some weird ducky dynamic happening with mine. Mallard started mating ancona, Ancona was mating with mallard, they were both picking on Apple Drake.. (who's kinda dumb actually.) My pen is about 3x4 for each one. So 2 ducks in 3x4. I let them out during the day though. In shifts now of course. Mallards and Apples out, then at noon I put them up and let out Ancona... etc..etc.. It sucks. lol.
