I like the looks, and the friendly towards people factor. I think i'm leaning towards the cubalayas. I think they are beautiful, and seem to be a very well rounded bird. Friendly, pretty, forage well, lay and brood well, etc. It's just the containment factor that has me worried. If I have to build 6 foot fences I'll just get emu's.
And I could make a tractor, but my main purpose for my birds are the pretty lawn ornament factor and I want something I can let roam around the yard. With the other birds and my kids and not cause trouble.
I'm going to take my time and not worry about it until at least fall. I might just fall in love with my EE's by then and decide to keep them despite all the drama they seem to bring, lol. Although I am ready for a real breed, and if I rehome my extra ducks and sizzles I have room to add a pair/trio of bantam cubalayas.
DD will be 8 and able to join 4h in January, and I'm thinking they would be a good choice for her to show.
Lol. You don't happen to need a khaki drake do you?
Cute little boy, still a baby and hasn't got his adult feathers. Rescued him all by his lonesome from a park with only geese for company. I don't know if he was an excess drake and got dropped off alone, or if he was dropped off with friends who didn't make it. I couldn't leave him there though, but I have way too many boys.
