Marty, glad you got everything controlled. Fireworks are "banned" in KC but the police look the other way for everyone on the 4th as long as they aren't stupid with them. We had a 70 shot parachute thing tip over but hubby got it flipped back up quick so no big problems there. I do have a nasty burn on my finger from trying to light a sparkler ,of all things to be hurt with, lol.

Kevin, I know. I've been emailing this lady back and forth. She wanted the sizzle/silkie pair I had and I told her they'd been sold, but I had some sizzle/silkie x. Who may or may not be silkied, frizzled, whatever. Sent pics of them, mom everything. She still keeps emailing back she wants a silkie pair, even with all that explaining, pics, and me emailing back the chicks are all I have, too young to tell sex/feathering, and I no longer have any adults.

I'm just holding on to them for now, I gave up. Want to see what they look like feathered out anyway.

Hey GQ, good to see you too. Sounds like we are all early morning girls. I usually get up at 5-5:30, but the early light of dawn always wakes me up.

How was everyone Independence day? Ours was a bit out of sorts towards the end, but we managed to struggle through the last little bit. After a flawless evening, the very last big firework thing (a multi deal) sent off 2 of 15 rounds, before knocking itself over and flipping about with the next 13 shots. Big balls of fire hitting the old barn, the wood fence, started 3 different grass fires..... Just glad we talked with the girls about what their jobs in a fire were. Little one turned on the hose (which we had next to the launch pad) and she and I started on the wood fires while Dad and Ruth ran and started on the grass fires. We were barely able to get all fires out before someone called the fire department.

Yeah, and i've got a lovely batch of new blisters, but at least the enitre property is intact.

Night person by nature, morning person by necessity.

hi everyone. Jadzia,s eye is a little less cloudy today i think.

also my friend rescued a ducking from a cat so i am taking care of it. I am guessing mallard but don't know if it could be wild this late in the year.

Looks mallard to me. I had a mallard rescue for a short time last year. I miss her.

Hatched my pretty Pheasants, and 19 Purdy Ohikis from Stewart Longtails! My Marans I hatched from my pair have turned out ALOT of blue chicks, selling my Bluester & my Maran hen though. I am just going to keep my Coronation Susssex. They are sooooo Fat & Lumpy! My roo has turned out to be just the sweetest. I think I will enter him in the fair this summer, and my Cayuga Pair.

I need to get pics this weekend. Was going to do it yesterday and then I had to quickly put everyone away because of the aerial visitors (eagles).

Would love to plan a meetup. I'm pretty solidly booked this month, but I may be able to get away in August for an afternoon.

We didn't end up going. Decided daquiris and cards was a perfectly good evening. Hubby's not much into crowds.

Now do I suck it up and get some cayuga eggs? I've got three bators maxed out right now.

Wish I could make it, but my sister is visiting and I have a duck to deliver to the ferry landing... and hubby's going fishing. Why can't there be more hours in the weekend?

Hello guys,
If a day can be any sadder than this one I don't think I could get out of bed!! I lost half of all my ducks last night, we had a very bad storm and when we went down this morning 5 of my drakes were missing. The only one to survive we had to put down as he had gashes and flesh missing from his neck.

Then I went to my other pen that held my Green drake and his 4 girls, 3 of them were gone with just a few feathers showing that they were even there. What ever too all of them sure wasn't very nice and left no evidence as to were they got in. The only thing that I can think of is it must be owls or eagles to carry away Rouens and Pekin hybreds. So now I must start over and try to pertect what I do have left. I now wish I didn't get out of bed this morning!!!!!!

Well i took the duckling to the wildlife care center and they said it was a wild mallard duckling so they kept it and will release it when it is ready. I miss the little cutie pie already and I only had it less than 24 hours but it is for the best. Why do ducklings have to be soooo cute.

Well i took the duckling to the wildlife care center and they said it was a wild mallard duckling so they kept it and will release it when it is ready. I miss the little cutie pie already and I only had it less than 24 hours but it is for the best. Why do ducklings have to be soooo cute.

I know how hard it is to leave a duckling with a wildlife rehabber. But she will have a good chance at living life as a wild duck.

They are soo cute, but soon their smell makes it easy and desirable to give them the boot!
