I hate selling on craigslist

. I spend 2 hours emailing back and forth for a moron to actually read the ad and realize he doesn't want the breeds I have

What a drag. But the ones who finally get themselves aligned with the right birds and owners, are very very happy customers, and totally worth waiting for.

OK, thought things were all groovy for us after our close call with the fireworks last night. Well, WRONG AGAIN. 12 days ago, I bought 6 cute little volkwagons (60's decade), and had to wait for him to move a few cars so I could get them hauled home for rescue. Nice little expendature, but we love the classics, and know what we're doing. He lives on the other side of town (pop. 35,000 - so not too bit, but not tiny) Turns out, he was gone for the day to his sons, and the neighbor kids accidently shot something at his house. Nobody realized they started a fir soon enoughe, but it burned his house, his outbuildings and barns, and all of the cars he had there. Out of 6 vws, only two are still intact. (He lost about 43 cars) The others are hardly going to have a useful part on them. Told DH I'd have to make them into bird houses now, who on earth would want to repair them?!

I still have two penciled runner duck eggs developing and 4-5 muscovy eggs developing. I think all my chicken eggs are duds, only one had some veining that I could see and they should have been hatching already. I think I will give the chicken eggs a couple more days especially the one with veining, the shells are fairly dark so hard to see into.

definitely not ordering hatching eggs in the summer again. It doesn't get very hot here so I didn't even think about it until I saw people advertising shipping with a cooling pack. I will probably wait until next year unless my friend's mini silver appleyards start laying again. They just started molting a couple weeks ago so probably no eggs for a while.
It seems like late season hatching gets worse and worse. After my two little ducks got here, I unplugged all three incubators, and the hatcher.

Jadzia's eye is still cloudy. I read on one of the emergency threads about veterycin eye ointment so I am going to try that and see if it helps.

I can't wait to shut my gear off. At least our weather here has been mild.

I think from now on, I'm only going to hatch for three months. I'm getting rather tired of hatching at this point. Love the little duckies, but tired of the hassle. Will be glad to have all the extra chores off the schedule.

I haven't raised peafowl, but the last place I lived there was a water drainage in the backyard and I had a bird feeder out by it for the itsy bitsy little birds, then slightly larger songbirds came, then ring neck doves, then blue jays, then a rat (it was one giant rat), then a raccoon, and finally peafowl came to eat out of the bird feeder.
