Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I can travel a couple of hours, but I'd prefer nigerian dwarf or mini nubian, or maybe LaMancha - smaller breeds. Its a shame it didin't occur to me to get the goat before my friend and her goats moved to Missouri at the end of October.

What was I thinking?

I've found one due to freshen in February, and another thats nursing quads right now, and has never been milked available early Dec. I don't mind training a goat, but this ones never been milked at all ever. Scary.

Marty- Good luck finding you a nanny goat. Have you tried putting a want ad on CL?
Chicks- Eggs look good! Can't wait to see the babies. How do you brood them?

I've been busy taking lots of pics.
Here are my quad of mottled japs. Sweet little birds. They haven't been brave enough to come out of the coop yet, but they seem calm and happy in there, come running up for food.

My serama chicks are turning all sorts of neat colors. I started a little mealworm farm too. Hoping by spring I'll have enough set and growing up to be able to feed the seramas for training them and for the mandarin babies. Gross little bugs, the things we'll do for our birds, lol.

Duck in a bucket, lol.

And splashing in the pool. The canada goose will shoot straight up in the air and start flying around the yard when they do that silly jump out and run with their wings out thing geese do, lol. It makes my fat embden girl a little jealous.

Hi Julie!

I've got mottled Javas en route week after next!

Found a BYCer selling out, and am getting 5 hens and 2 roos!

I've decided to get the Nig. Dwf thats nursing the quads, but I'm going to get the other from a focused dairy breeder. I have two I'm talking too, both have a couple of doelings about to be bred first time, but out of dairy milked parantege. I also bought a small vacuum milker for tiny teats. I just don't see me milking with 2 fingers, not with arthritus.

Hi Don, your gonna fit right in.

I hatched some pheasant this lasts spring, and they about drove me nuts. They were amazing escape artists, and very hard to catch. I actually chased them down several times, then I was like, ok, see ya. How do you cage and brood yours? I've got their new hatches pics posted here sometime in March or April....
