OK, who isn't getting goose eggs yet....besides me?

None of the farm geese are laying yet. I'm waiting for them to get to work... need something else to hatch while I wait for the seperated ducks to start laying.

Me. And with my 2 girls I'm not getting any hatchable eggs period from them this year. But I'm impatient to decorate some for Easter and would like to get started on that, lol.
I have a few pips on my japanese eggs in the incubator. Which is good, because I have turkey eggs coming in a week to squeeze in there. I think I might even try to keep a few and actually eat them for the holidays this year. But turkeys are right up there with geese for me. Maybe I should get some pekin and cornish x from the hatchery, and if I can do the ducks then I can plan on a few turkeys and geese for the freezer.

It weighed 132 grams.....I hope to find another egg in the morning, but we'll see. I have never had good luck incubating goose eggs, so I'm really nervous! I do not want to waste any of my precious goose eggs.

That's a big sebbie egg! You are on the right thread to get help with incubating. Last year was my 1st hatching and I had better success with goose eggs than duck eggs. X2 what psue said about Pete's hatching guide. It made all the difference in the world for me.

End of Feb for my 1st Emus, and bought more chickens today at auction!

That's not too far away. Can't wait to see baby emu pics!

I have only gotten eggs from Ember because she is indoors. No eggs from any ducks or geese outside yet, but I think my African girls will start REALLY soon, as they are scouting hard for a place to nest and trying to return to house. So.......... any day now............

Sorry About your goose !

I would love to hatch some welshies! I have 1 drake & 2 hens right now, and it seems my bator always seems to have room for more ~ Hey I love the MadHatcher !

Jealous...I would love to hatch some Emus. But if I did I would be in soooo much trouble!
Aspen .. last year was our first year of hatching... Pete's guide was invaluable! Use it and keep notes as the weather in your area will require minor adjustments. Good Luck

It's a pretty good size. What is the normal weight of a Sebbie egg? My two smooth girls are the smallest Sebbies I have, I cannot wait to see what the bigger Sebs lay.

No new eggs this morning, drats!

That makes me feel a whole lot better, thanks honey!

Would you like me to send you some? I'd love to send out a couple batches, just to be sure.

Aspen, not sure about sebbies as I've only weighed/hatched Africans, production Toulouse and dewlap Toulouse eggs, but sebbies are a smaller breed and for a 1st egg that is a good size. I think most geese lay every other day, so I wouldn't expect another egg until tomorrow. Ember has laid consistently every other day (around noon) and Miss Lydia's goose has been following in the same pattern.

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy, the sebbie is are definately 1/3 smaller than the others. I've never had a sebbie egg in my bator yet that was near as big as the others goose eggs. I'll take weight on all my goose eggs this year, and see if sizes change over the next year or two.

How is everyone?

That's very helpful, thank you. I haven't checked on Caspian and his ladies since this morning, but I think yesterday the egg was laid around 8:00-8:30 AM, it was still warm when I found it. This morning the girls got let out about 7:20 AM or so, a little earlier than the day before.
