Those are wonderful Jaz, you ended up with beautiful birds. And love your daughters birthday cake, she did a great job. Mine are a bit younger, and they usually help with cupcakes and cookies, but only a mommy could appreciate their art when they are done, lol.
Glad you're home and hope you're feeling ok!Good morning all! Nice pics! I read through the posts I missed, but I already forgot what they said so I thought I'd just say "hi"!
Oh my, I'm not really into crested ducks but that boy is something else. And love chocolate girl too. She's just got the sweetest face. No call eggs here, lots of action going on out there so maybe soon. Just hoping I can find the eggs, my ducks didn't ever learn they were supposed to lay early in the morning and lay in the afternoon and evening instead, when they are out. Last fall they were good and mostly laid in their nests but every now and then they'd send me on an egg hunt. I thought about clipping the canada goose's wing, but I don't feel like she's really "mine" to do that, lol. Plus I love watching her fly. She generally just does laps around the yard, and when my embden gets upset she comes back down, lol. The main issue with her flying so far is that she will fly out of the pen, but then of course she paces outside the pen not quite able to figure out how to get back in.If you wanted her to hang around, you could always keep her wings clipped. Heehee, thanks! Chocolate duck is pretty adorable I have to admit. Are you Calls laying? Mine have not even acted like they are ready to lay for me yet. Oh well, I still love them.
This is the daddy of the crested duckling:
FooFoo (err..yah, we though he was a girl...we never got around to changing his name) ; )
Rusty is a mess. LOL
That is wise to try out a gander first, before you own one. Some of my ganders are starting to get nasty..to me and each other. So far nobody has bitten me, but they've been fighting a lot among themselves.
Your DH actually wants more...he doesn't know what he's getting himself into! LOL
I don't think he learned his lesson..yet. Every time we set the trap he springs it trying to get into the bait.![]()
We're extremely glad we got him too.
RG - I am tearing up looking at pictures of your Smooth Lav Saddleback gander...he looks just like my Cotton. R.I.P. What is his name? Is there anyway I could get eggs/goslings from you? I would give anything to have another gander like Cotton.
Beautiful - I love their long flowing tails.
Thanks for sharing them!![]()

BTW - I think I should win the "longest quote' award!
