MY fave chickens ! ! !

Those are wonderful Jaz, you ended up with beautiful birds. And love your daughters birthday cake, she did a great job. Mine are a bit younger, and they usually help with cupcakes and cookies, but only a mommy could appreciate their art when they are done, lol.
Good morning all! Nice pics! I read through the posts I missed, but I already forgot what they said so I thought I'd just say "hi"!
Glad you're home and hope you're feeling ok!
If you wanted her to hang around, you could always keep her wings clipped. Heehee, thanks! Chocolate duck is pretty adorable I have to admit. Are you Calls laying? Mine have not even acted like they are ready to lay for me yet. Oh well, I still love them.

This is the daddy of the crested duckling:

FooFoo (err..yah, we though he was a girl...we never got around to changing his name) ; )

Rusty is a mess. LOL
That is wise to try out a gander first, before you own one. Some of my ganders are starting to get nasty..to me and each other. So far nobody has bitten me, but they've been fighting a lot among themselves.
Your DH actually wants more...he doesn't know what he's getting himself into! LOL
I don't think he learned his lesson..yet. Every time we set the trap he springs it trying to get into the bait.

We're extremely glad we got him too.
RG - I am tearing up looking at pictures of your Smooth Lav Saddleback gander...he looks just like my Cotton. R.I.P. What is his name? Is there anyway I could get eggs/goslings from you? I would give anything to have another gander like Cotton.
Beautiful - I love their long flowing tails.
Thanks for sharing them!

BTW - I think I should win the "longest quote' award!
Oh my, I'm not really into crested ducks but that boy is something else. And love chocolate girl too. She's just got the sweetest face. No call eggs here, lots of action going on out there so maybe soon. Just hoping I can find the eggs, my ducks didn't ever learn they were supposed to lay early in the morning and lay in the afternoon and evening instead, when they are out. Last fall they were good and mostly laid in their nests but every now and then they'd send me on an egg hunt. I thought about clipping the canada goose's wing, but I don't feel like she's really "mine" to do that, lol. Plus I love watching her fly. She generally just does laps around the yard, and when my embden gets upset she comes back down, lol. The main issue with her flying so far is that she will fly out of the pen, but then of course she paces outside the pen not quite able to figure out how to get back in.

Your cake is so purdy !!! My daughter decided she wanted to make her own cake for her birthday ~ So who am I to say no..... I am supporting her creativity

So Gummy sharks, jelly beans, green apple twizzlers & strawberry frosting! Took this to her school & was a hit & Krimsan was so proud that this was the cake that she made all by herself!

love the cake :)

Aspen... DH knows what he's getting into........because of health reasons... He gets to watch pretty birds and worry about hatchlings and I get to feed and take pictures the perfect match

I saw my white Calls mating this morning. Maybe we'll start to see some soon. Last year my white Call girl laid one soft shelled egg, which they then proceeded to eat, and she hasn't laid since. I'm hoping for a better year this time 'round!
love the cake :)

Sorry? Never be sorry! I'm so in love with your Ohikis! Your daughter's cake is awesome as well!

I wish I could have come down to auction this weekend, but was at the Small Farm Expo. Won a $25 gift card for the feed store as a door prize.

Only a farmgirl does a happy dance about a gift card for the feed store.

So how was the expo ~ what all was there? Did you come home with anything? It would be great to have you come down to auction, getting alot of hatching eggs in now. Also tons of produce, bought a 50# box of tomatoes for $5 (salsa time!) & 7 large crates filled with cucumbers for $3 each, & 4 crates of turnips, rutabagas, parsnips & beets for free !

There were lots of geese too. Hoping to find some baby rabbits soon, to raise up. Want some Cali's, or New Zealies.

Expo was fun, but I'm starting the think the workshops are getting a little entry-level and somewhat boring at this point. Ended up in a bunch of workshops about sheep and goats, which I have neither of, nor plan to due to lot size. Full of information, but nothing earthshaking. It's more of a hang around and network kind of event.

I scored the $25 gift card and a voucher for a free bag of feed for a different feed store. Not going to turn that down.

Had a pretty awesome lunch. It's usually catered by the culinary arts students from the college and a couple local caterers.

I'm itching to get down to the auctions so bad. I'm trying to decide when I can make it down. There's a women in agriculture conference coming up and a hatch day. I need to get cloned so I can be in more than one place at a time!

The good news is that you're getting all the good scores since I haven't been able to get down there!
