Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Wish I could help but I don't know slot about calls. Sounds like the ones with the rolling fluid have internally pipped so I would go into lock down if I were you as you don't want them to shrink wrap. The others should be fine. Drowning from what I understand is only a problem if the humidity is too high generally throughout incubation and you've been ok. Fingers crossed.

it was "fluttery" when i rolled at 2, i'm staying out of there for the next 24 hours, ill check for an external pip then, i'm staying calm....i have read the horrors.......

Good job staying calm. Mine are pokey hatchers, but most get theirselves out ok. I've got 6 in the hatcher right now. 2 had internal pipped this morning, I'm not even going to look for external pips until tomorrow night, hoping for ducklings by Saturday.

Hope yours do great!

k, all that calm went out the window.... he is definately pipped!!! went to lockdown and getting that humidity up... also i made sure he was placed with the air cell up... now we wait...and wait....and wait!!

humidity hanging around 50%... everyone must b at work... i feel like im talking to myself...lol
West Coast here, so just saw your questions. Deep breath. If internally pipped, I lock down the whole batch.

I know how you feel. I tend to get calmer every hatch, until it's something that I really wanted badly. Then I hover over the hatcher like a broody momma.

At this point, I don't care what hatches anymore. LOL. OK, not really, but I lost 24 eggs in an incubator at school only a few days from lockdown. (overheated when room locked up for night)

Otherwise, I'm up to my eyeballs in midget white turkeys, chickens of all sorts, and geese. Hatched out 5 white africans today. I think I'm going to wait a month, and then set more black copper marans and javas.

How is everyone? Seems like I've been gone loads lately.

Hi Marty!!!

At my peak load, I had 313 eggs in bators. I've got some locked down now and added some goose eggs. May be able to turn off a bator soon, once I candle and toss. Had pretty poor performance from the auction turkey eggs. Have about 55 goose eggs in varying stages. Got 5 juvenile duckies that need to move out, but the meatie slaughter got pushed back three weeks because my bosses' chicks aren't performing as well as mine. Now to come up with plan B, since the tractor was going to be home for the juvies once the meaties were in the freezer.

I have some almost grown goosies that come up and bite me on the backside when I go to collect the duck eggs. Actually, they are fascinated with my back pockets, but one got me good and all the neighbors heard about it.

My blind Saxony is doing pretty well. He/she has figured out how to get to the water and food and is keeping her eyes cleaner. Hoping the sweet baby makes it because that little baby cost me $24 for the shipped eggs and is the only survivor.

DG sent me some eggs. Post office was pretty evil to the box. About ready to give up on shipped eggs forever.

My work schedule is weird this week, so I'm just plain tired and I keep thinking it's Friday. But hey, I've got pips in the bator.

GQ, you are busy as ever! Yes, those young goosies are ornery, even if on accident. Our adult sebbie males have adopted our young group of sebbie babies, while the girls are fighting about sharing a nest. (huge eye roll) I got tired of gathering eggs, so each pen has a lady or two on duty just now, plus my ancona girl has a load of eggs under her, and so do the turkey hens.

I know what you mean about shipped eggs. I traded some goose eggs for some blue eggs, but I didn't get anything. (sigh) You'd think the PO would like the business enough to at least not deliberately malign the boxes.

It good to see you, girl! I only have the three bators that hold a max of like 60 goose eggs, and more of everything else, but around here it's mostly goose eggs right now.

Indeed. My young gooskies have been adopted by the Chinese goose who was sitting on a nest of rocks that she gathered. Our Pom girl is sitting on one lonely egg I got from auction after discovering he was a she.

I can fit 180+ chicken eggs in my cabinet. Got bantam chicken, duck, goose and turkey in there. Got 55 (maybe more, I've lost count) goose eggs in three bators (had to turn the big hatcher into a goosie bator temporarily). Got more duck eggs, including my local Saxony eggs, turkey eggs and a few chicken eggs (for a friend) in the last two. I need another bator.

The locked down duck eggs are the ones I got for free from the feed store. Turns out my neighbor was the one who dropped them off there. So they are offspring of some of my former flock.
