My first ducklings are due May 6th :)

I've noticed my hair seems to be getting thiner! I'm actually very lucky to be hatching my own birds eggs, instead of shipped eggs like last year. They are very nerve wracking, especially if one considers how much (w/shipping) it works out to be per egg.

Now I can feel more relaxed about the duds (which geese have plenty of, if they are very large).

After 28 long days I have had my first batch of eggs hatch. I am the proud mommy of 10 little call duck babies. My daughter got to watch the first 2 hatch which was really neat. This was my first time hatching eggs and what a neat experience.:woot
Yayyy congratulations!
Just been reading some of the other posts on this thread & feel like its gonna be a looooong week!!! This is the first time we've hatched duck eggs. They aren't due to hatch for another 3 days but after hearing a faint chirp this morning and seeing a small crack in another egg I'm now sat impatiently at the side of the incubator:caf Daisy duck has a bad limp at the moment so she's been brought indoors for some rest - so at least I've some company to watch the eggs with me!!
good luck, don't bite your nails too much!

ok, need advice... my eggs are developing that have wiggly air cells....so, i cut a sponge to prop the eggs on that holds them at about a 45 degree angle, is there anything else i can do to give them a better chance? anyone??

Sounds like that's the best thing to do. Not sure about anything else. Just keep checking the embryos progress. :)

Maybe someone in here can help me. 1 of my liile babies isn't acting like it feels very well. All the others are hoppin around eating and drinking and he just isntcas active. I have them on vitamins I purchased from Metzers and good food. Is there something else I can do for the one not doing as well to give him the best start possible. TIA for any help a head of time.

Is it eating and drinking normally?

Have you tried using a little dropper to try and get the vitamins and water in its mouth? Impossible task I know. How old is it? If it's more than a few days old try and tempt it with some ground up meal worms or de shelled peas?

I wish I could be more help. I have a little duckling who is so tiny in comparison with the others. Im hoping it will be ok as its eating and drinking and running around and squealing! Think I'm going to weigh it tomorrow and every few days so I can tell its definitely growing.
