I couldn't eat something I named. That was our little rule growing up. If it had a name, it no longer was food.

What does the milk taste like? When we get, "our farm" as we say, I want to get a couple milking goats. Do you make Cheese?

And this is Delilia, my daughte's goat. She climbed in there herself.

Our goats were bought to keep my horse company since he can't go out to pasture due to a leg injury. He loves them and they keep him active by playing with him.

They are! What do you do with yours SM? Are they just pets? I had some sheep growing up that were just pets. Talk about a stupid animal.

I could never eat anythimg I play with and like you QJ, if we name it, can''t eat it. My hubby always says he will name it breakfast, lunch or dinner then he cab eat it. Not me. I can't even think about eating my ducks. Everybody said they are delicious but no way, they are my pets.

Beau is a handsome boy. And those little goats are precious. I keep telling my husband I'm going to bring a goat home. He would be so MAD!! (And then he would build it a place to sleep.) My animals have a way of growing on him.

He said when we get our farm I can have ANYTHING I want, but until then, please refrain from bringing anything home that is in violation of city ordinance. Lol.


I'm going to go investigate the fox's home at the creek across the street and see what I can find. I'll let you know.

Also, the same hawk is still sitting in the tree. Since 830 this morning... same spot. Talk about persistence and patience.

I'm telling you get one of those owls they say they work. And thank you about your comment about Beau. He is absolutely gorgeous. He has been on the front of some local horse magazines and once on the American Paint Horse magazine. He has championship blood lines but I got sick of showing. Mt granddaughter has shown hom a lot and always came out on top.

I think I have to take a nap. Foot hurts alittle today. Talk to you all soon.

I'm sorry about your drake, QJ. But it sounds like a food with a silver lining. Foxes are a major problem here too. They were introduced from England. Horrible pests (but good looking animals when you get a healthy one..).

So, about this duckling that won't get up. Do its legs look normal? So, no swelling round the joints (relative to the other ducklings)? Are it's feet flattened out? Are his legs out to the side or underneath him? Is it trying to stand but can't or is he just not trying at all? Just seeing if it's a leg issue or more general than that. Has it fluffed up? Is it still in the incubator?

Initially I'd be dripping some vitamins into his bill with an eye dropper. Do you have any bird vitamins on hand? You could add a little bit of sugar to the water you dissolve the vitamin powder into.

Even though it's a duckling and not a chick the sane rules apply - think of what you'd do if it was a chick.

update...
lost one all my falt tooo

this one never really piped so i decided to go in and investigate i must have hit a major blood vessle cause it wouldnt stop bleeding

it was backwards and in the egg weird like its body was wraped around its head..
do you think it just wasnt ready and i got to antsy??

that leaves 5 in the brooder and 3 externally piped the three are doing very well and moving like mad ducks..
