Even worse, it's either her son, or nephew. Actually, that's assuming that the 2 big girls were related. I guess it could be they weren't. I'm inclined to say they were.

He's a good looking duck though.

doesn't matter if they are related at all. okay now we need a picture of the handsome drake in question.

It's dark here now, but I'll snap one tmw morning! He's bigger than Beaker now.

Already outbid on the turkey eggs. I think I'll wait until spring and buy a few poults anyway. They were only $8 for midget white poults last year, and there were a few people around here so they shouldn't be hard to find.

So I emailed the guy in lawson which is just a little over half an hour north of me, and asked what breeds he has. If I'm going to have my incubator running for my geese I might as well fill it up. The more eggs there are the better it holds the temperature.

Right on. Let me know what he says. The guy in Lawson right? What city are you in?

Kansas City, a few miles north of worlds of fun.

OK, just curious. I pictured you around 210 somewhere. (NKC) That makes us like.. 30 minutes apart. Woo Hoo! We don't have to ship eggs to each other. LOL!

They emailed me back.
Well, haven't separated out our different duck breeds or chicken breeds, so it would be a barnyard mix on both.
We have mallards, pekins, khaki campbell, blue swedish, welsh harlequin, runners, and rouen ducks, so it would be a mix of those on ducks.
Chickens, we have about every breed out there...sorry. It's probably not what you are looking for.
We do have purebred brown chinese geese eggs for sale for hatching for $3 a piece if you are looking for geese.

I think I might go get a couple more goose eggs.

I would definitely get some gooseys. Are they loud? I've heard they are loud, and I've heard there's a breed that isn't.
Can you have just one goose? Or do they like other geese. If I had one goose I think it would whip my dog into shape. She likes to "play", but a goose would nip her on the nose.

Chinese and africans are loud. Sebastapools, roman tufted, american buff, and pilgrims are quieter I think. Miss Lydia has a gander who hangs out with her ducks I think.
I think I'll wait and order my roman tufted instead, if the africans I'm getting don't hatch. They're loud but I think they are sooo pretty, so I'll deal with it.

Does anybody (ehem* 70) know anything about the chocolate gene?

I think I need a male with the "Choc" and a female with "choc/- choc" to bring it out... But I don't know how to get a female from "choc/-" to "choc/- choc".

Or am I totally off on this.
