I'm just hoping that's what it is! And not a thingy. Like a bad thingy. Whatever that would be.

I went and checked on my one remaining Swedish egg under the hen and - IT'S HATCHED and is ALIVE. I really expected to see it flat as a pancake. I think it's blue. but it was still wet and in the dark so hard to tell. if it is not blue or silver then I am wrong about who is laying.
Dunno why they all came out the wrong end thoughIt's a pretty bad career move for a duckling. I think that knid of thing ends better in a bator than under a broody though as you can help. I helped this one this morning before I left for work. I also found mites in the nest and dusted the broody who nearly walked off the job in protest but who eventually settled back on the egg. She is a good girl.![]()
I'll still set some more tomorrow night in the 'bator from the same duck.
Yes, I will let her raise it, especially since it's an only child. It'll be happier with some company, even if it's only a surrogate chicken mother.
Will post pics tomrrow if it's still alive and kicking and ready to face the world. Fingers are crossed!!!!!
I'm excited for these pics.. so hurry up.![]()
I willI'm at work now (bummer) but I'll see what the story is when I get home (in about 2 hours). If I can get a pic without disturbing the broody I will. Tomorrow for sure though.
One of the ones that died was a blue one and it was really well marked.... Sad. But such is life I guess.
