Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hello!

The lady who I let use my bator is driving me insane! She asked me how long till I would see development, so I said 7 days, then she got that confused with lockdown, and put her eggs in lockdown for 7 days! Are her eggs gonners?! She had 7.

I have 1 ancona egg, and 9 RIR eggs waiting to be put in the bator, waiting for 2 or 3 more Ancona eggs and the bator, then I will be a hatching freak again!

Good morning, hatching friends. :)

My duckies are a week old today, it's 11 days away from lockdown on my next set of anconas (with 100% still growing), my 6 goosies are doing great on day 14, and I'm waiting to hear from Pidgey about when she will be sending my last set of cayuga eggs. Life is good. :)

CG, don't know about chicken eggs, but with duck eggs, the membrane is supposed to drift towards the heat. So if your eggs are laying horizontally, the embryo will be on top of egg, closest to the heat. When you turn them 180 degrees and go back in a few hours, the embryo will be on top again like it was before.

DG, if you have a few ancona eggs to put in bator, then you will have ancona baby pics soon.....

Quackers- Plum run really has some crummy communication skills. Let me know what you hear back from them after sending a copy of the receipt.

Utah- can't wait to here how your ancona hatch goes.

Update on my eggs
There were 6 eggs not doing much, but one had started rocking yesterday. I candled them and 2 were in the air cell and one was pipped (the one rocking) and 4 were dead. I opened the 4 up and 2 were full term, just never pipped internally and 2 had died sometime before lockdown. I tossed those so now we are waiting for the 2 that are in the air cell to hatch and I'll be done hatching

So the total now out of 19 eggs
5- dead (1 didn't zip, 2 never pipped internally , and 2 quit on me before lockdown)
2- currently in air cells (one has externally pipped)
12- Hatched ducklings

If I can just get these last two eggs to hatch out fine, I will be thrilled with these results. I know mother nature has it's way of taking care of the weak so I won't stress over the 5 dead.

These two are the last two that hatched over night (waiting on two more eggs) Please don't look at the nasty underneath of them it was a lot of hatching and my incubator needs to be cleaned ASAP but I'm waiting on 2 more.

And these are the other 10 that were already hatched.

Nope, not done! Shes driving my nuts though!

I really want ancona babies! So I need my bator back SOON! The ladies chicks are due to hatch this saturday. That is if they arent dead! She needs to use her own bator next time. Right?!

Chicken crazy! Those anconas are adorable! What colors? I cant tell!

They are all black, which I was hopeing for some chocolates because I have a trio of chocolates, but obviously my black drake was doing all the fertilizing.

Chicken, I love the pics!!!!!!!!! My favorite is the one on the far right in the group of 10. Do you plan on keeping them all?
