I do not use bleach I find that ODOBAN if much more efficient, and you dilute it ust like you do bleach. Check it out at Home Depot, you can buy it by the gallon. Bleach is sooooo yesterday

SM- Is it your LG? I washed mine exactly how Celtic described. I used Dawn and did a light scrub, rinsed, and then Clorox clean-up with bleach. (great stuff)... Let it sit for 20 minutes and then rinsed and then air dry. It looked brand spankin' new and smelled great.

Sorry about your babies.. but I'm glad you have a goosey.

Guys! My ducky egg is doing soooo good! And I see a heart beat! But only in one, other 2 are duds. I drew a pic of how close the baby duck is to the air cell. Please tell me he will be fine! Im so worried!

Looks real good. I've had them start in funny places. According to what I read today, even turned babies hatch o.k., so Id just keep baking them, honey!

SM, so so sorry. Don't give up, let's go over your set up and what you do from day one forward. Give me all the details from brand of bator, still air or forced air, temps and humidity.

Have you ever calibrated your thermometer and hydrometer? If not there is a starting point as they aren't ever really accurate out of the box. They need checked again each year before you set eggs in the spring.

We run a digital version that plugs into a mini laptop via USB to read and record info. But we also have two back ups also to cross check.


Marty... Thank you. Hubby is medical corp in the Air Force and I am a veterinary back ground so I tend to be a stickler for set up, care, cleaning and handling. After all we are only as good as your system and set up.

I was told by ChickOh about helping to save early peeps, when she comes on you should ask her what to do... She is very knowledgeable & has been doing this for a long time ! Well I gotta go check my bator! I had 2 Pips ~

Ok, this is an easy fix. When you have to interfere: As long as they have air, Like if they've pipped and are sitting there. I don't help them for about 24 hours. But I keep the membrane moist with a q-tip or drops of water off my finger.

At 24 to 36 hours I peel back the shell, but I do it in a way that they can get out themselves. Like.. I focus on the head area so I can get a good peep at the yolk sac. If it's still there I leave them. They aren't supposed to come out until that yolk is gone, so it's okay for them to sit in there, as long as they can breathe.

It takes about 3 days for me to "help" a chick out. Unless it's sac is gone, like these 2 last night.

This is how I do things! Others do things different... that's fine.

I live in Missouri. Bleach is still Today.
