Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Posted this exact thing on Facebook earlier, but I figured I'd pick everyone's brains here as well:

"I've been wondering why it is that some of my runners (bought as ducklings from a private party) are so much smaller than some of my other runners who are both younger and purchased from different sources. The younger ones who are larger are from Holderreads stock. The fawn & white in the photo is the same age as Peepers, the middle duck who came from a private party seller. The Holderreads stock ducks are 2-3 months younger and are the same size as the fawn & white in the photo. I wonder if they had an unintentional cross with a bantam at some point in their history..."

The fawn & white drake is either Frik or Frak, never could tell them apart. The girl in the middle is my Peepers, one of my favorite runners. The one on the right is one of my swedes. Peepers is both shorter and smaller overall than the drake, as are all the ducklings I got from that first batch of runner ducklings I bought.

OMG you guys. My silly duckies are taking so long to appear in the world that I totally forgot about my lav orps that are due tmw. AHHH! I should have had them in lockdown!

Oh no! Quick - to the hatcher!

I just went and put the big ducklings in the coop. They are big enough and it's warm enough they've been ok outside, now I need them to get used to the other birds. I'll be able to keep a good eye on them, but with no rooster and no drake I'm not very worried as long as they don't make the turkey mad.
