Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I just remembered my Swedish Flower Hens should be in lock down. Due Thursday. However they don't look ready. I think they will be late hatches. I'm leaving them in the cabinet until tonight when humans go to bed.

But while I was candling them to weed out no goers, I candled the sebbies again (without picking them up) and the one that I was saying I thought was developing faster.. the air cell has dropped EVEN MORE since this morning.

It is definantly down ( _ ) that much since this morning. I marked it again and I'll take a pic tonight when it's a little darker. I really think this one will come early.

Afternoon all. QJ you gonna be ok waiting for those eggs to hatch? We had our first egg ahead of yours to hatch, it is the gander that zipped early through a vein, so you will be hatching out first geese of the year. Can't wait to see your new babies.

I got to spend all morning on base (military family here) with the baby today. Went to get him up and ready for day so we could run his brother to school and he was hot to touch, then vomited all over me, him the bed, then came the diarrhea. They seem to think viral, ears looked perfect, so fluids, rest and Tylenol are his next couple of days.

Now it's time to sort today's eggs, as all the geese laid as well as all the LF ducks the freeloading calls need to get their rears in gear. Oh and time to pull a shipping box and pad it to send out more eggs.

Was suppose to be picking up 6 Buff American geese eggs, had to post pone that until the end of the week. Maybe tomorrow if hubby stays home with little man.

I was actually referring to a pic of the pencil line, not of candling. But, take a pic later tonight... leave them alone for a while.

What exact day are they on today??

With my set, once the dip started, it was pretty dramatic with how much it changed in 24 hours. Set dip side on top, fat end facing you. Then you do not have to pick up egg to candle anymore. You can watch the dip on top and the shadows creep up the back by setting light on top. Right before external pip, you can see the tip of beak right under where it will hit shell. It is SO cool!!!!!

The city is supposed to fix something? (insert eye roll).

I know, right? They'll be working along the fence line between us and the neighbors. I am taking the tarp off the run and covering it with netting I think for the summer, and putting in new fence around the run and planting a whole bunch of stuff. So therefore, once I am done they will decide to start and mess everything up. I've been waiting since last year to make everything pretty though because of this, I either have to suck it up and hope they don't mess it up too bad, or wait again. Of course if I wait, they will end up not getting around to it this year at all. I wish they would hurry though. I doubt they give us any notice, when they redid the sewer lines they just came while I was at work and had our yard dug up and the fence ripped up. They said the month they would do it, but never the day so I didn't have my dog inside. They never fixed the fence either once they were done, made me sooo mad! I hope they are too scared of the birds to mess with their fence.

NO! I'm NOT going to be okay. Although, being a stay at home mom, I don't have a lot to get excited about most days... so just give me this moment.

Sucks the little one is sick!! The flu just went rampid this year since it wasn't cold enough to kill germs. Bummer!!

Duh.. I'm stupid. I can take a pic of the lines with no special light. Good call.

Pretty much my brain is fried. The 2 little ones are really just nutty today. I put them down 20 minutes early for nap. It was THAT bad.

Today is day 25.

Does it look like the ducks?

Oh man. That is pretty much ridiculous. And exactly what you get with the city. I hate the city.
I would plant some double knockout roses along that fence. Looks like the perfect place for them. They can tolerate the water and the ducks love to hide under them. But the minute you plant anything they will come dig it up.

My dad's farm has an easement for KCPL on part of it where they have those HUGE poles. (the ones that transfer electricity to the smaller poles). Anyway, they came to replace them so they had to go up my dad's driveway, open a gate to the pasture, with these huge trucks. My dad was so flippin' nervous that they were going to let all the cows out or screw something up. But they actually were awesome and when they were done they replaced his main cattle fence with a brand spankin' new double fence AND installed it. He came home to that nice little surprise.

Oh and they asked him if he wanted to have the poles they removed for fencing. um... yes. Score.

there's the difference between city and private owned companies. LOL.
