Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Maybe it should be Sir Butt Pipper. Since he's a British Butt crack and all.

I think we need to get a room at the Skamania Lodge & go to this !!! Maybe turn it into a spa day @ Carson Hot Springs!

Hmmm you interested?

Could you keep this stuff in the PM's?! NO FAIR!!

Speaking of candling... I gave in and tried to candle with my silly miner's headlamp this evening. Not quite as good as hubby's prized LED flashlight that I usually use. Decided after 5 to stop.

Why would my eggs have drastically different sized air cells? They were all set the same day.

The older the egg, the larger the air cell. Moisture evaporates from egg increasing air cell size, regardless of fertility and dates set in bator.

I have blisters on my hands from working on the coop, lol. Had to take a break. And I was playing with the ducklings. I still think they are all girls, I wish their voices would hurry and change.

Surely they're not all girls. That would be crazy. Although right now I think all my chickens are pullets... lol.

Hey give me it's symptoms. Mines flippy when it gets knocked over.

Weak from hatching, peeps weakly, one side seems weaker than the other, often found on its back because he/she can't turn over.

Update: I think hubby fixed him/her. After days of sav-a-chick, having legs taped and a little TLC, Flippy is getting around and hasn't been stuck on it's back for several hours. Little booger is even harassing the other chick now.

I suspect it was either a very exhausting hatch for the little one or it may have/had neurological issues. Will see...

I have GOT to go to bed. I'm outta control on this thread. One last peek at the Saxony eggs... (not candling, don't worry)..

Oh Julie- I've got one of your girls eggs in the bator and its got a red dot. :)

Ok.. that's not the same thing as mine then. This may sound crazy.. but I don't think mine knew how to eat. Because it's like he's relearning every time I give him food. So I think he's just weak. But maybe not..
