Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Morning! awww Sounds like a sad day in poultryville.

Hopefully there will be a turn around soon. I have my

for all of the existing hatchlings. I am still waiting on my pidgy eggs. Hopefully I will get a decent hatch. The only thing in my bator as we speak is 1 single coturnix quail egg. I received 2 dozen from quaillady 18 days ago. They were all smooshed and cracked except for this one lone ranger. It is either a roux dilute or a red. He is due today and still no pipping. Argh.

Casslarrabee225: I have been watching your baby all morning live. I love that you are streaming his activity! Good vibes to all!

Morning Eyeheart! If you want more quail eggs there is another forum I post on that has lots of quail people. Let me know and I'll give you the link, I usually go there with all my quail questions.

Ahh Thanks Julie. I am pretty good right now. My bator will be full after my Cayugas get here. Quaillady will be sending me out another 2 dozen replacement soon. I would still love the forum info. Is it on BYC? It has been hard to find anyone besides quaillady that carry quality roux dilutes and reds. After this batch I don't plan on hatching any more besides my own eggs.

The roux/reds are pretty. I'm still trying to decide if I want more different color quail, or if I just want to switch to chukar. My quail are kind of boring to me anymore lol, but I think that's because I just have tibetans so boring little brown birds lol. I need to get some white so I can have tibetan/white/tuxedos and a little variety if I end up keeping my quail. What do you do with yours? Do you eat them or just eggs?

We use ours for dog food (we feed raw), human food, and eggs. I know what you mean about getting boring. If I didn't have all of the color to play around with I wouldn't have them long. I do enjoy watching them take sand baths and popping around like popcorn. I have tux, rosetta/range tibetan, italian, english whites, and browns. The italians and tux are my fav.so far.

We have begun the assist with 2 eggs that have pipped on the wrong end, so that they can at least breathe well.

We are now on Day 28, but only have 6 out of 21 pipped. (And 4 of those are on the wrong end)

Hoping for more pips as the day goes on.

I think I need more colors. And more, I've only tried a few extra males I had. I still want to try bacon wrapped grilled quail. Mine have been slacking and not laying for over a month now though.

I'm really considering eating them all and starting over.

Srbenda, I would candle all the ones that have not pipped. If internally pipped, I would make an external pip holes in those eggs too. Please keep us posted!!
