The only place I like em!

5 Wild Goose ! (had to toss 2)
ALL 5 Pilgrim !
2 Sebbies (had to toss 3)
ALL 5 Goose Mystery Eggs !
ALL 8 American Buff !
2 LAV Sebbies ! (4 iffy & still not sure on)

BUT I had to toss 11 out of 14 duck eggs

Awesome on the goosie spiders! Lame on the ducks. I don't think I'm going to get as good of a development rate with this current batch since some of the eggs were shipped and my turner went off the rails twice. Here's hoping!

Heck, here's hoping I can force myself to wait one more day to candle. If I candle on day 6, am I good to toss the clears? I worry I'm doing it too early.

Spiders are pretty... inside of eggs. That's a lot of goose babies, Jaz!!

Indeed.

Well I have 7 Embden Goose eggs that arrived today in the mail, that are setting before I put them in the Master Bator

Master Bator. Perfect name for your bator! Love it, love it, love it.

BUT I didn't buy any eggs at Auction this last weekend, But I must not go this weekend.... I will have to have hubby tie me up

Did you mention where this auction was? I think I asked and then lost track so never saw your reply. Is it at the fairgrounds? So glad I don't live in Woodinville anymore, I'd be at that auction blowing paychecks left and right.

baby #1 is peeping and scootching all over bator and trying to get her twin to pop out already.
had to help baby #2 out a lil more. her wing was shrink wrapped.
from here she should be able to push herself out.

after un sticking her wing baby #2 pushed out and is POd about being still stuck to the shell.

Go babies!

Good Evening. Can somebody catch me up on what is happening??

Hi SM! I just caught up. Looks like there are some new hatchlings!!! This thread is always so exciting. If one person doesn't have babies on the way, someone else does!

I'm still using my best effort to not go candle eggs. Not going well... giving in...

So, what I thought might have been a chicken egg may actually be a Silkie Duck egg!

Of the four chicks I put under the broody at the farm, we only have two left. Flippy chick and one other. One drowned in the water and unsure about the other.

There's another broody mama at the farm and her chick hatched last week sometime. Today I found it dead. So I reached under mama and discovered two dead chicks who had pipped and not progressed, one egg that mama had kicked out of the nest and two that I think I heard tapping in. I'm not enjoying all this death, but I need to let nature take its course.

Hey GOIN ! I am unfortunate enough to have 2 auctions in the same town & only 3 miles apart ! Same day different times UGH!!! What an addiction
The Auctions are in Chehalis, WA.

I candle and candle and .................... btw I candled the 4 i'm waiting and they'er working on external pipping but they'er taking FOREVER... if they haven't broke through by morning I might have to help

Hi Peeps!!

Sleep tight! :)

My hubby is away in Melbourne at the moment so I am fending for myself. Had take-away (i.e. take-out) curry for dinner. Was good except my dog and chickens all gave me googly eyes the whole time, begging for my curry. The dog got some curry, the chickens got some rice. I was eating outside, watching the ducks. They on;y beg for peas. Good thing it wasn't a pea curry.

GQ, eggs never get tossed here until day 10.

Chicken eggs get candled at day 10 and lockdown

Duck eggs at day 10 and lockdown, unless call ducks as I check them more often

Goose eggs get candled before setting, day 10 and about every 3 days since they require more work with air cells and weight loss for a truly successful hatch. This isn't a big deal though with cooling and marking aircells too.

So far with our Sebbie eggs we have less than 10% infertile eggs. Everything we set that was fertile has hatched too. Shipped eggs we are doing well too with about a 15% loss and all eggs that goto lockdown hatch. Some have needed more help with aircells but even the wonky are hatching.

both babies are doing good.
baby #1 is up on her feet waddling around. she isnt upright but her feet are under her.
baby # 2 is scootchin around. and pretty active.
neither are quite dry yet but i took pics none the less.

and the rest of the eggs. i have 1 that looks to be internally pipping. will assist some when i get home. rest of the eggs are DEAD. so i may get 3 babies outs this deal.

pardon my photography behind the bator. that part of the wall is covered init.

neither baby wanted to hold still. so sorry they arent the best.

this should tell you how small they are. i do not have big hands, my hands are small. and look how tiny he is in comparison.

Oh and celtic. will they be grey?
or blue fawn? or what.
they kinda look lighter, their dark doesnt look quite black. but maybe its cuz they arent fluffy yet)
