Good morning, Celtic.

Hope all is going well for you... and you get to take it easy today!

Kinda bummed about not getting SA eggs from you... are you sure you can't snag a few today and tomorrow morning???

Celtic, question for you. My goslings turned into monsters overnight and are beating each other up when in the indoor pen. Is this like puppy play and I should not stress about injuries?

I will be able to put them outside in a little bit for the entire day, but we are supposed to get snow tomorrow and I am concerned about keeping them in small indoor pen for too long. Otherwise, I will have to move the outdoor pen into the garage... but they were NOT happy about staying outside once the sun went down yesterday and I am unsure how they would be in the garage too.

Morning Everyone!

Good morning!

Ebay bidding announcement... I am bidding on the silver appleyard eggs sold by dprather. There is another bidder p****p. Hope I'm not bidding against any of you, because I need duck eggs to set with my new toulouse eggs, and hubby wants SA instead of cayuga!!!

Hatching announcement: 5 of the ancona eggs have beaks against shell, getting ready to externally pip. 3 more look to be internally pipping still. 3 are unsure so they are in goose bator so I can keep an eye on them. Lockdown has officially begun and I am raising humidity to 70+% now. So far, everything looks great!

Goslings insisted on coming inside once it got dark, even with heat lamp on outdoor pen. But as soon sun rises, they go back outside... as they are beating the crap out of each other when they get bored.

you get the eggs and this is a great hatch
Thats cute that they still wantted to sleep inside, Squishy and his ducky friends spent their first night out side last night, we put a heat lamp in the old goose house (about 8 square ft and 3 foot high) had to heed them into it as it cooled off last night but once they leared where/what it was they were happy. Kinda cool this morning so they'er not in any hurry to come out till it warms abit.

Morning Iain - Happy bidding! Good Luck on your eggs. Nobody else has mentioned bidding thus, so go for it. You know how it is, some still bid against you, the just don't advertise it. So who knows??

Morning Peeps!

Lucky lives on. He can't really stand, seems a little slow on using his R.leg, and a little weird about his head, but overall is stronger, and I found two poops on his paper towel, which I consider to be apositive. If that part didn't work, the rest was wasted effort. He is moving about the bator, however he's doing it. Still sleeps and rests a lot, but I'm sure is holding his head up a bit better.

He is still getting drink of sugar water (I just dip his beek, and he's going for it). I will be making a watered down mash in an hour or two, when he gets his brooder. I have button quail going on lockdown tonight, so gotta clean up, sterilize, and see if I can get my still air gova to get to and hold a temperature of 99.5. So far, not w/o a fan.

Maybe I just need to give it longer.

Morning continuing

for Lucky. Glad to hear he's improving even if it's small steps.

Thanks Sue!! By the way, I just posted info on float test for you on goose hatching thread. :)

I just read it... i'll try it again and candling later today.... Hope I really saw movement and not my eyes playing tricks this morning

I'm so glad that candling and stuff isn't harmful as long as you dont keep them out very long

Hi & Good Morning!

I just wanted to thank everyone on this thread, especially Iain Utah, Marty1876 and JulieNKC, for their help and support with our hatch last week. Thanks to your advice, we had a successful hatch, and now we have a healthy duckling in the brooder.

Here are some pictures of the hatch!
