I know some peeps use a feather duster
whitemountain, they are beautiful!! Congrats!!!
I am not sure what is up with early hatching, but I woke up to my first cayuga internally pipped and it's only day 24!
yea it's an Embden so it's not tiny just lonely... do you have something close in size?Baby what? Goose? I have chicks that are a week old or ducks that are a little younger than yours if you need someone for company for it.![]()
I have 2 turkeys out, 2 almost zipped, and 3 pipped/zipped. 1 of the pipped/zipped has been that way for a looonnnggg time, and I want to help it. I have a feeling it's shrinkwrapped, it was one of the the first to pip and I can see it sticking it's beak out the hole but not making any effort at zipping more. Not sure if turkey's are like quail though and if it's better just to not help.![]()

Jaz, so cool about the Boggy Bottoms eggs!!! Looking forward to pics of your new baby!!
Sue, I'm so sorry!!! That must be awful for you and the remaining gosling. I have no idea what to do in your situation and am hoping if my lone toulouse hatches next weekend, that my soon to hatch cayugas will accept it, because otherwise I'll be in the same boat as you until my dewlaps hatch and then I hope that my toulouse will fit in with them.
Yikes, Julie... me either! But if it was zipping at a set pace and now has fallen off that pace... I'd probably take a peek to see what's up.
I might try that..... but they just got excepted by the bigger guys and I hate to bring them back in....Could you take the blue girls out and put them with him? I have their sisters/bothers that are a little less than a week younger who are still pretty small, but ducklings are usually pretty friendly and would accept him fine I think. Mine have let the lonely EE chick I was given into their group.![]()
It pipped early afternoon yesterday, zipped a big enough hole to stick it's beak out, and hasn't done a thing yet. Every quail I've had to help I had to cull though, and turkeys remind me of really really big quail, so I'm hesitant to help. I need at least 2 more of these buggers to hatch. There's another bycer that wants 2, and I want 2-3 so I can hopefully end up with a tom. And i just know my tom's in that egg....lol.
