Hi! I can only guess goose cause I don't know anything about geese

Hi Wulf!!! Its been awhile

Ok my billionth guess the color question...So what color do you all think these muscovies will be? The colors never show up well in the photos. If nothing else a good chance to show off the cuties.

The left most duckling could be white or buff

this one doesn't show up well but the feathers look blue/brown/white all on the same feather

I'm terrible at colors but they are so adorable!

. By far the best duck breed

maybe blue fawn but the beak color is different.

the middle one is the mom when she was little and the very light one is possibly the dad when he was little. So fun to go back and see what they looked like. The black pied has a mostly white head now.

Morning all.

Never got on yesterday, spent the day driving to other cities to work on my dads stuff all afternoon, and finally got home late and just ate and went to bed.

All my babies are doing well. My midget white turkeys ordered were due this week, but hatchery had to reshedule for June, due to a bad hatch. Glad I'm not the only one having turkey hatch troubles!

Goslings are all doing well. Duckies all smell (but well). Chickens are growing. I noticed today that one of my pheasant is a victim of picking, and either I'll put the two together alone, or something. Anyone have pheasants? Are they pickers??? I'd guess so, quail can be.

Bought the girls a new above ground pool yesterday at a wal-mart on the way home. They are very very excited. I'm just glad no water birds can get into it.

School is out now, so I'll actually get to check in more.

I want to say to EVERYONE that I miss you all, and I'm sorry I've been gone so much the last few weeks.

You know how it goes. Seems like work is over, do chores, then lots of other details to finish. Somebody has talked to me and wants to buy my dads house. Since we don't plan to live there at all (its only a 2 bedroom) we're also trying to go through stuff and clean. He was a bit of a pack rat I'm afraid, so its gonna be a busy busy summer, trying to do that on top of everything else. Oh well, at least he didn't brood ducks!!!
Hey Marty! Always good to see you online!

I know how busy you must be right now. We know you haven't forgotten us!

thats cool. lol.

i just chose it bcuz i cant make a living with my real passion (photography)
so i chose second best
It's hard to make money as a photographer. I tried. I'm a happy farmhand who takes a lot of pictures now.

Found this cute surprise yesterday.

Wonder where I can get more of these eggs?

I was at a gathering of farmers recently and someone was carrying around a goat kid. It's name: Stu... or Stew.

She was a nice surprise in the pasture. Momma and baby are doing well, going to fence a small area in the yard for them until she is a bit bigger.
Oh and I hope Still (SM) can get back on here soon. We shipped her a pair of Sebastopols recently and last text message said she is in love and they are doing great. Hopefully she can share pictures soon of them.

(just cause I want to say hi)

Celtic, cute baby!
So far, so good, though I've forbidden my hubs from posting on Craigslist without my proofreading. I'll post an excerpt in a second.

dutch glad your hatch is going good.
mine not soo great.
i had 2 babies break a vein too early.
so i staunched bleeding with flour.
have another who popped out whil i was at class and busted his dime sized yolk.

I may have one live one out of 11 in the bator. I've been putting off going up to check because I'm afraid. One pipped and died during the night. So I might have a solo.

Woohoo! Goslings are on their way! Shellie dropped they off somewhere around 12 -1 and I have been on USPS tracking them since! Oh! And she sent me a extra gander!
love.gif
2 geese, 3 ganders. Will probably run all 5 together in spring... Or should I seperate in spring?

You've got the bator to do it! I haven't locked down more than 2 dozen at a time. Mostly because I like to get rid of all of them before the next batch.

My bator have been feeling empty inside....
Poor Master Bator!
Well I gotta take off .... Gunna buy some feed from this mill I have been too, around 19% all purpose feed @ 17 cents a pound !
So like 1,000 pounds for 170 dollars
17 cents a pound? Dang. I've been coughing up 43 cents a pound for the certified organic stuff. Time to shop around.
So I am feeling very bummed about how things are turning out with me getting buff babies this year from Carole. She has a month-old boy available that would work IF Barley is a girl, but not sure she has any buff girls if Barley turns out to be a boy. She believes she killed every last buff baby in her incubator and her girls have stopped laying. I will call my bird dvm in the morning to see if I can get all my dewlaps vent sexed this week. Obviously, I'm hoping and praying Barley is a girl!!

In the meantime, my cayuga egg is turning and moving. Plan to put it in lockdown tomorrow and if it hatches, it will be Sat/Sun, but I have no babies to brood it with.

In ducky news... hubby and I built an 8x8x4 shelter for excess drakes today and sunk posts for 8'x20' run. Will get that fenced in the morning and am excited to move them over. The end of run is the cross fence into pasture and we plan to cut open ducky hole once transitioned to let them get into pasture.

ETA: Is it horrible of me that I don't really want this cayuga to hatch?
I understand the dread of having a single duckling. I may end up with one myself, but I have some week olds that will just have to learn to share their brooder.
*sigh*
im losing hope.
the magpie that busted his yolk seems to be fading
it looks like his yolk is seeping back out

HELLO???!!!!!!! I made it here and nobody is here...

SM!!!!! Missed you!

This is Lucy. What kind of goose do you think?

My babies from Celtic
Cute. That's the best identification I can do.

So my ultra-helpful hubby is trying to help me sell ducklings and hatching service...

Applewoods! I wonder if they're good smoked?

I'm not mocking him, he was laughing when I corrected him.

I had to add that "waterfoul" may be technically correct, however...
