Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

How is #1's recovery doing? I think free ranging the ducks should go well, usually after three days we can get the ducks to return to "home" at night with no issues. makes it nice to let to wonder about during the day and then lock them up at night for safe keeping. Your utility Toulouse would share the coop easily with the ducks too for over night if you wanted.

No. 1 is doing really well, thanks. Eating and drinking normally. Interested in getting to know the dewlap babies. Otherwise totally relaxed in pen. I emailed pics to the ebay egg seller and she is convinced that No. 1 looks exactly like her main brown gander stud/white goose offspring. If so, then I am pretty sure No. 1 is a girl.

As for getting the ducks to free range, we are lucky to get them to leave the coop for more then one minute before rushing back inside. lol

I love nice weather lazy holidays, hanging out enjoying the animals, taking pictures. Life doesn't get much better than that!

It appears splayed leg now has a thigh problem rather than a leg issue

Thanks Celtic. This has been far from an enjoyable brooding first experience with these turkeys. I'll continue to try to help this one the best I can. This makes me wonder if I should just stick with waterfowl. I have rarely had any issues when brooding them.

On a happier note the other poult made a "Big boy" noise today. I really think this one is going to end up being a Tom.

LOL I don't blame you! I have no intention getting any more Turkeys anytime soon. Now White Runner Ducks are a different story....
