Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

So how are you Psue? Keep coming, even though your not hatching. We gotta get warmed up for the hatch season.....
I know! I have missed everyone!!! Although I think I am done hatching for a while.... at least until I find out how many chicks are roos

I think out of my four BCMs three are roos, one for sure and two are most likely. Then there is the one silky chick and 9 SFHs still unknown gender.

On the duck side, I still have two drakes too many. At least my two sneaky muscovy hens returned!

Wulf good luck on the roo front. Finding good BCM's is super hard now days with the poor breeding behind the breed as a whole. Our son has a small flock of them and after 2 years of hatching I think he has 1 main roo 1 possible back up and 3 maybe 4 hens worth keeping. The rest have been or will be sold because of comb issues, poor egg color, feather coloring off.

GQ- Yep, that duck has a sales pitch down! LOL

Glad the naughty muscovy hens came home! Good luck with the others.

I just wanted them for the chocolate colored eggs, but supposedly they are from show stock (you never know when they are from ebay eggs) but I don't know anything about showing poultry and my DH doesn't want any roos. Although our backyard neighbor had a roo but mysteriously it disappeared, but they have a much larger lot with a horse. Our lot is more of a city sized lot.

sadly everyone on ebay says they have Bev Davis and Wade eggs. Most are about 7-10 generations away and all messed up to include egg color. The roos show themselves pretty early on though, so easy to tell what you have.

Marty...... He might be selling the entire Marans flock. His project with them is done and they arent the best hot weather chicken so laying here from them slows greatly during the summer. So there might be adults available. They are all just now 1 and about to turn 2 after his last round of culling. The girls need work on leg feathering, the roo has it down well, but egg color even now is nice and dark.

Currently we have plans for the following in 2013:

Chickens:
Light Brahmas
Swedish Flower hens
Cream Legbar
Maintaining our EE flock and tweaking it up a bit.

Ducks (domestic):
Khaki Campbell
Silver Appleyard
Ancona

Geese:
Sebastopols (blue, lilac, lavender, buff) (whites for the last time in 2013 all will be sold in spring at the end of breeding season)
American (Blue and lavender)
Dewlap Toulouse (Buff & Grey very limited)
