I am new to chickens. I have ten 18 week old birds that I have raised from chicks. Two have turned out to be Cockrells that, of course, are becoming cocky. The problem is, my smallest bird, a tiny Polish, seems to get the brunt of their frat boy behavior.
A few weeks ago she started sleeping in the rafters of the coop rather than the roost, which is fine, but then, recently, she hid somewhere in our yard and didn’t return to the coop at night. She showed up the next day wanting to be let into the run. Now she sleeps alone on the floor wedged behind a little storage cupboard. This morning she hadn’t moved a centimeter from how I’d left her last night after finding her, again, trying to hide outside the coop.
The other pullets don’t seem to bully her. I’ve only seen the cockerels do it and she seems to always be trying to avoid one in particular. I am ambivalent about having roosters anyway. Should I cull the cockerels?
Here is a pic of the little one next to another of the same age
