Any updates?I hope its okay. I think it popped its yolk because you can see yellow. If thats the case he's a goner![]()
Still alive. Lucky little thing. He's heads out (I had to do this so he could breath) but everything else is still in the shell, and he'll hopefully progress as normalAny updates?
Don’t beat yourself up over it; an easy mistake to make and not something you’d automatically think to check. Sorry for your loss, I hope her babies hatch successfully for you!I'm totally sad and feeling guilty.
I went to the coop this morning feeding the chickens. As I watched them eating their feed... I noticed that one hen was missing from the one breeding group. I went outside, thinking she might have not made it inside before the door closed automaticly.
No hen, no feathers.... I checked the water barrels and she was in one of them... drowned.
I am so upset... she died because I was not careful enough! I dumped the water out and I will figure out what I'll cover them with.
Her chicks will be hatching this weekend. I don't know if it's a comfort or even more upsetting.
Unfortunately, I won't know exactly which of the chicks are hers. Just the breeding group she was in. I grabed another egg from that breeding group and added it to the eggs I'll be putting in on the 22nd. Don't know if it's hers... but it could be.
