Tolbunt Polish

Thank you illia. I don't have the time or energy right now, so I don't think I'll go down that road. Plus, I just had to put down 2 of my chickens yesterday due to an eye infection in one and broken tendon in leg on the other. It was a chocolate orpington rooster that had poked his eye and a little cuckoo polish that had bad spraddle leg. Not a good day.

I am new to the Tolbunt world. We dearly love Polish and I came across this Tolbunt roo at our local swap. The breeder I got him from purchased her stock from Greefire Farm. I need honest opinions about him. You won't hurt my feelings, I am trying to learn. I do think he is missing some coloring. I have paired him up with our Gold Laced polish hen. I just hatched out one of thier chicks as a test egg two days ago. Anyone's thoughts would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance!

His body type seems good in these pics- his crest is awesome. Tail is his main issue- tails are pretty when held this high- but it is an incorrect tail carriage. His tail should be held about 45 degrees off the body.

But it pairing him with gold lace if you have no tolbunt hens is a wonderful start with your tolbunt program- I would just try to make sure your hens have a more correct tail carriage and not breed him back to his daughters.

It's not 12 weeks old in that picture is it? It looks like 6 weeks. She looks like a pullet to me.

You are right, I rechecked dates and this chick is barely 8 weeks. Hatched 7/7/13.

The crest looks like a girl now, but it will be easier to tell when it is 10 weeks or so. When my favorite pullet was 7 weeks old, she started turning into a cockerel.
