Tolbunt Polish

Hello! New to this thread. I JUST found out about these adorable chickens & were wondering if anyone has them in Canada. I'm in Ontario & would love to buy some hatching eggs from someone. Please toss me a pm if you are selling them or know anyone who is!

Hi and welcome. New to this breed myself. I just stopped turning my eggs today on my first batch of these. Hoping to get a couple out of the 7 remaining eggs out of the 10 I received. They are hard to come by at this time of year.

I'm in Georgia,my husband is from Peterbrough Ontario.

OLL, nice to meet you! I doubt I'll ever find a set of eggs to hatch, or even an unwanted roo. Even normal breeds are rare in my area, unless there's something wrong with them (sick, terribly inbred, etc). I got super lucky with my current flock, even though my eyes were on other types.

Ah well, I'll just have to sit here & look at all the pics you wonderful peeps are posting. :D

Aw now don't be so quick to give up. It is the off time of year to find this breed in hatching eggs, so I've discovered. The Tolbunt eggs I found seemed to be the last of the season. I only found them do in large part to my OCDness about the topic. Perhaps in the spring you will be able to locate some Tolbunts or hatching eggs and in time be the go to source for healthy genetics in this breed in your area.

Thank you, OLL. That means a lot to me. I've been trying for similar breeds (Polish, SFH, etc) since the summer, but I'll try again in the spring. I'm actually not so much interested/able to breed them, I'd take an off-coloured 'cull' just as easily. There's something about them that makes my eyes light up & giggle. Like a long lost memory. It's been a hard year so far with moving & injuries, so looking for more ways to smile!

Well before work as always I checked and low n behold 2 eggs pipped. Hubby called to tell me one hatched at 5:20 this evening. That one stumbling around the incubator knocking into the other 6 eggs. Another pipped so that's one hatched and two starting :) They are very beautiful and unique. Hoping for the best with the rest of the wee ones. Tomorrow is day 21.

I'm in Georgia a little far to drive to Texas. I only had two from this hatch, I just had to cull a third hubby tried to assist when it was stuck in the shell. There's a reason when they can't hatch out usually.

I can tell you what is not a Tolbunt: My experience with Frazier farms: I bought what I thought and was told by them were Tolbunt Polish... They sell Candy Corn or some other coloring with Cuckoo in it as Tolbunts...
Here is a pic of a Candy Corn or maybe crele laced from Frazier Farms.

Here is a pic taken today of my very first Tolbunt chicks, I hatched them out 2 weeks ago. A third was dead in shell, despite Dear Hubbies attempt at helping out I ended up having to cull it 3 days later. My hatching eggs came from Michigan, I'm in Georgia…who knows how much bouncing went on during their trip.

Update at 5wks. I have 10 more in the incubator crossing fingers and hoping to get a nice colored frizzle Tolbunt or more.
