Hatch day is in two days (the tenth)!!! I am so excited! The eggs are already in lockdown (I actually did lockdown a couple days ago).
Candling was good. I think I took out almost a dozen eggs, but that's only because most of those that I took out weren't fertile. I love watching the chicks move inside the eggs!
I placed paper towels on the floor of the bator, partly because I've heard styrofoam is hard to clean and partly because I feel like the weird screen floor of the Hova incubator would hurt the chick's feet. I took the eggs out of the turner and layed them on their sides. Filled up the biggest trough full of water like the instructions said.
As advised, I won't open the incubator until several chicks have hatched and are nearly dry. But I can't say I'm too happy about that because there aren't very good windows on the bator and I can't see many of the eggs. What I can see is blurry. Danget, I guess I won't get a good view of the hatches. Oh well, can't be helped now.
Now I wait...(Emojis help me demonstrate my emotions best)
I do the same thing with mine when I'm hatching. I will put down papertowels about two or three deep so it's a little bit cushy and it also absorbs any liquid that leaks when they are in the process of hatching.
