I posted here several months ago asking for breed help when this guy (pretty sure he's a roo, now, anyway!) was a little chick. I try to post a link to that thread below if I can find it. Anyway, I got a lot of suggestions, and felt fairly confident he was a barnevelder. That's what he looked the most like, and had no tail feathers at the time. I had read that barnevelders are slow to develop those, so that made sense.
Now he looks pretty much nothing like a barnevelder, or any other kind of chicken I've ever seen! I wouldn't care so much if I knew he was a mix, but he was given to me as a rare breed. The lady who had him said he came in a rare breeds lot from a hatchery (Ideal, I think). The other chick I bought from his brooder turned out to be a brabanter, and she is gorgeous! I just wish I knew what this guy is! He has the funniest personality- he's a loner around the other chickens but follows us around outside. He's just nosy! He gets really close to us, but when we reach out to pet him he backs away.
I think he's around 5 months old now.
Any ideas would be very appreciated! Thanks!
