Toulouse Geese Thread

I want to know about the bill color because I've got a strong feeling these guys aren't toulouse. I ordered toulouse goslings and got these. What do y'all think?
Definitely NOT Toulouse. Either Chinese or African...perhaps a mix. But not Toulouse. Here are my Toulouse for comparison...who did you order from?

I ordered them from my local feed store, but I don't know where they source them from. I'm pretty disappointed.

My experience with local bird sales is that unless they are selling locally raised birds they are pretty unreliable. But, since you plan on dressing them out anyway it should make very little difference in the end.

From what I've read, Africans and Chinese are supposedly leaner. I wanted to raise toulouse for the high fat content, especially since I used mostly rendered animal fat for cooking.

I am a Toulouse owner. I ordered mine in early spring.... They have orange bill and orange feet and yellow eyeliner around each eye.... I'm no expeet but your picture of your geese do not look like toulouse to me. They look to be a mix.. If you got them from a hatchery then I would contact them and complain... If you got them from a private indiviual then I would contact them and find out what type of ganders they have... Yours look old enough that the beaks should have changed color when the feet were also changing.... If I could figure out how to download pictures I would show you a pictire of my two so you could compare

I got lucky and got a picture of Gilda my French Toulouse. As you can see sge has orange bill and orange feet no knob and yellow eyeliner. Hope this helps

Very helpful, thank you. I've got a copy of the Holderread goose book, and there's a picture of Swan Geese. Those look the most similar to mine.

Maybe Brown Chinese mix with African if ordered from a hatchery. Very pretty geese even if not what you ordered. Contact the hatchery along with pics.

Very interesting. I looked them up on internet... If you have internet I would advise you to take a quick gander, little pun there, and do some research... You might be very surprised at what you have in your goose family....
