Toulouse Geese Thread

Congrats on all the eggs everybody! They are so pretty!

Trina is starting to get real feathers, DH says it makes her look fat lol. But it has got me a little worried, do geese get fat if they get overfed? She is super active, but she DOES eat a lot lol.
I also wanted to ask about letting her swim in the pool. She seems to love it! Runs over and plops right in. Doesn't even wait for us to open the gate, just squeezes through the bars! IS the chlorine ok for her? Should I rinse her off afterward?

Hi I'm not sure if geese would be ok in a pool with chlorine if they were to swallow the water it might well give an upset stomach or worse :( She's georgeous how old is she?

Looks like your girl loves the swimming pool. Now to try and train her not to go in, that will be another story. You need to get her own little pool. I have no idea if the pool chemicals will harm her?

She is just about 5 weeks I think. I keep losing my days, I need to keep a calendar haha.
He's a little Sebastopol gander, they love him. They all get along fine I love the Toulouse girls there so sweet and soft in there voices.
How cute! I have a crossbeak chicken named Lady that sometimes hangs out with Trina, but they seem to be more afraid of each other than anything. Trina has fit when Lady gets into her food though LOL. Her new feathers are SO soft, I love snuggling her. I'm not sure she feels the same hehe

Luckily this is not our pool, we don't actually have one. We are pet and house sitting ALLLLL freaking summer lol. Different houses, but almost all of them have pools - being in Tucson AZ and all haha - and she gets to come with us everywhere. She saw that pool and ZOOM bee lined right into the water. It was pretty freakin adorable. I know I have seen lots of people let their ducks and geese swim in the pool, and we used to always see wild ducks in my pool growing up. I just don't want her to get sick =( She likes to do whatever we are doing though.

Wow Miss Lydia,
Missy laid 50?? She beat Jemima who laid me 49 excellent and it was Jemima's first season laying too. :))))
I know I am amazed sammark, and my Muscovy lays on them during the day and Missy takes over at night, I think I'll take Petes advise and take all the eggs away and see if she will finish up. She seems in good health but I worry about this running her down. Your babies are so cute, it's amazing how fast they grow.

I'd say have a small kiddy pool for her to get in after she gets out of the big pool, just in case. I wouldn't want to wear those chemicals.

My 'fuzzy heads' are seven weeks old this weekend and got to go for their first outing into the natural pond. I thought they'd go goose wild in there, but stayed really tame and had so much fun pecking into the mud bank! They did stay close to where I was walking. The creek feeding the pond will dry up soon unfortunately, and the pond will be off limits to the geese. That's the plan anyway...

Beautiful pics and beautiful geese.

I took Jemima's nest away & she knew she wasn't gonna get chance to keep more cos she just laid the eggs on the grass instead of hiding them in the end. I'm glad I did that cos she had me worried as i'd heard laying too many could cause her harm. You know it's a feather in your cap Miss Lydia as I've heard a goose won't lay that many unless they have a good diet, are well looked after and happy! :)

She will get used to Lady if they are introduced more regular :) I wouldn't mind pet and house sitting all summer if a pool like that was involved haha I'd never be out of it. Not suprised she made a bee line 4 it, I bet u've got her spoilt, my little Seb is spoilt rotten - he was the only egg that hatched so I looked for goslings for company for him by the time I got him a gosling he wasn't interested in it more interested in screeming til I got him out he thinks he's a human he is that used to human company haha.
