Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read the CDC report on the link you attached, and it sounds like Mt. Healthy should just be avoided. They've been linked to salmonella outbreaks the past three years. Seems like they would have made efforts to clean things up.
no kidding. My TSC told me they just switched TO Mt. Healthy a couple of years ago and said now their chicks are so much better and no problems. I'm new to chickens and didn't know anything about the hatcheries back when I had this conversation. Makes me wonder if I heard her right. Yikes.

If you buy them in the store, you can choose the single chicks you want. If you place a special order, there is a minimum. Love our TS chick! The folks at the store are so helpful and patient too. We have had an excellent experience with them.

I think theres a risk with any chick you buy. Our TSC chicks from Mt Healthy are doing great. Theyre almost 9 weeks old now.

I bought 25 Mt. Healthy pullet chicks last spring from my local Agway. All 25 are healthy and doing fine at a year old. A couple of the Speckled Sussex are broody right now.

Hubby is building our coop this weekend and we go to the local tractor supply stor (Orscheln's) Friday to pick up chicks. We're very excited. Ours have RIR, Buffs, Barreds and something called. Pan Frys. I think some others too. I was wanting a Black Australorp as well. Hoping they have that too.
