The reds are a bit dark to be BO - more likely to be Production Red (often sold as RIR by hatcheries, retailers, etc) or New Hampshire Red - RSL is a possibility but with the dark wing tips I'd lean towards PR.

Me too, when ever I go passed fish in stores I look through the tanks and see if there was a mix-up, and a relatively pricey fish gets put in with similar lower priced fish. Like when I seen a gold dust mollie and they were $7. One was in with some sail-fin mollies, which were a few dollars less, unfortunately I had no room in my tanks for a Mollie, mostly because I had a carnivorous yellow bullhead that would have ate the mollie whole. I have room now, and want gold dust mollies, but it's unlikely one will be put in with sail fins again, but I'm optimistic.Very understandable - I hope you find you have a bit more of a variety in your brood.
ETA - the upside of this sort of situation is that once you do have some ID'ing experience under your belt it can work very much to your advantage as you can start picking out the good ones in a mixed bunch that others may not realize what they are. This works in fish keeping as well - have found myself some great finds (and deals) in tanks where others (including the staff at times) are not aware of what is really swimming around in those tanks.
Good luck since the people working there probably will have no idea. They sure don't at the local one. That being said the 6 sexed pullets that I got from them last spring were 3 SS, 2 production reds and a white rock. Sexing was correct and the birds are doing well. Just remember that because someone works for a feed store that doesn't mean they know a darn thing about chickens.
ETA: Here they were as pullets last spring.

This is our first set of chickens so I have NO idea what chicks for different breeds look like. I wanted to wait to get what I wanted but hubby wanted chicks now. So we got the chicks from Tractor Supply. Once these get old enough for the coop, I'll order the two breeds I really really want from Ideal for May.
I'm hoping for some nice hens from my TS set, but I have a sinking feeling I've got all Leghorns. All I have of those is bad memories of being chased as a child on my grandparent's farm. Those were mean chickens!

Waiting on our TSC for chicks. Still haven't come in yet, and even the staff are antsy waiting for them. I live around Rutland Vermont just for people around me if there interested in this information. The local stores around wont have any for a few more months, so i'm keeping my eyes peeled and at least the other locals are back ups just in case.![]()
I know!!!! I know we are getting them whenever they come in, but i want them now! lolGood luck! It's so hard to wait, especially if you were expecting them sooner.![]()
