Trader Joes & Other Grocery Store Egg Hatching Club - Are you a Member

I emailed a pic of my chicks to Chino Valley Ranchers indicating they hatched from TJ eggs. The guy told me they used both HyLine white hens and roosters for the fertile eggs.

The HyLine site: http://www.hyline.com/aspx/products/productinformation.aspx

Not sure which HyLine White these would be; as you can see from their site, they sport such cuddly names as HyLine W-36 and HyLine CV-22. I'm guessing HyLine takes steps to ensure its end result layers (and the accidental Roos that escape into laying facilities with the hens) don't breed true in order to protect their investment.
They list two for the United state, the w-36 and the Hyline Brown:

Mine are now 8 weeks and look very similar to the W-36 but one has some black "splash" (I only kept 2 pullets out of the 11 chicks)

I would like to join this club. I bought 2 dozen eggs from the TJ in Palms Springs that were 3 days old. I also got a dozen very large brown fertile eggs from Clark's Natural Market. I don't know if that chain is only in Southern Calif. The eggs were 6 days old and say they were packed in Texas. I set them all a couple of days ago in my homemade incubator. It is a trial run for it also so hope this all turns out well. I cracked one of the brown eggs so only set 11 of them as well as 5 from my chickens for a total of 40. Mine hatched very well in the New Year's Day Hatch-a-long so I wanted to have a few to compare with the store bought.

How exciting!

I hope they develop for you.

Thank you! It should be interesting anyway. I hope my hatch is as good as your TJ hatch. Everyone thinks I am crazy for trying to hatch supermarket eggs.
