trouble duck

Do you have any coconut oil if you do try to give her some she may eat it by itself my little bantam hen had a crop problem and I fed her coconut oil it’s solid so I just gave her small bits then I’d massage her crop area what ever was in there got broke up. Just be sure if you massage that you hold her so if she throws up it comes out and not back down In Case it goes into her lungs

Can you take her to an avian vet?

I agree she needs to be on a balanced diet long term. My ducks took weeks to switch diets, and we can work on that after the immediate health crisis has passed.

Not so good. She is on antibiotics and niacin and still the same puking and not standing. We now have another duck that is starting the same symptoms. The fluid in the neck is what is really throwing us off. They all refuse to eat the duck food you suggested. We have put niacin in the water to make sure they are getting it, so we know they are all getting that. They are all locked up so they cannot get into whatever they were getting into. The girl is still in my bathtub drinking. She can no longer stand. :(

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear she isn't feeling better and that another duck is ill, too.

I know some members were very passionate and they advised switching to a duck diet immediately. I agree that long term that would be ideal, but I think eating something is better than nothing. I'm not a veterinarian, I could always be wrong.

@Isaac 0 can you help out with these ducks?

I didn't totally switch the diet they have both so they could transition. She is not eating anything. It is like her crop is just filling with water and she drinks more and pukes and it just keeps getting bigger. It is all very confusing, even speaking to a vet they did not know. So we are up in the air and hope it is covered under the antibiotics. But she does not seem to be getting any better. :( We are definitely trying!

Drinking lots of water, throwing up water, refusing to eat, watery feeling crop suggests crop stasis. I can give you some suggestions when I'm less busy, which would be tonight, but I would recommend getting some miconazole cream 2 or 4% which you can find in the women's hygiene vaginal shelf at your pharmacy. Get some. It might not be the problem, but it's worth a try.

How often do I give it to her?

"Measure a quarter inch of suppository or about half an inch of cream and give orally twice a day for seven days. Do not stop treatment before the full seven days are completed or the yeast may return. "

Do understand crop statis is most often a symptom of the underlying condition, but to get her in good shape we need to start off by treating the crop problem first.
