True Love... *cough*

My kitties started out doing this whenever we'd let them in the room with the brooder...

We figured it best they get used to their new feathered family and arranged controlled meetings (one of us would hold a cat, the other a chick or two) between them all. Cats showed no aggression, but received several nose pecks that made them wary of the beaked half-pints. Now they co-mingle just fine...the cats seem more nervous around the chicks than the other way around.

A good peck on the nose cured my cats from ever considering my chickens as possible eats.

Now, I am still wary when there are baby chicks in the yard, but I am nearly positive the protective mama hen would go for the eyes, not the nose, if one of my cats thought "Oh, SMALL - easy pickin's!"

Too cute. Mine are too old to worry about but was still curious. I found them early on sitting on a counter watching them through the brooder box.
