TSA wants to double security fee

It does not deter anything. If someone wants to blow up a lot of people they could do it at the TSA line in the airport. If they just wanted to blow up a plane they would just air mail a bomb. What is deterring is that no one would stand by an let a hijacking happen after 9/11. The passengers are the deterrent not the TSA. The only way to repeat 9/11 is fill the plane with your people or rent an private plane.

TSA is a serous attack on the 4th amendment an has no real up side.
Possibly, I actually prefer armed pilots and/or air marshalls.

I used to love to fly. Unfortunately I don't do it any longer due to the abuses by the TSA.

I have a current US passport.
I have a federal firearms license. Requires a background check.
I have NFA items (Silencers, machine guns, etc...) Requires an intensive background check.

They should have a mechanism in place where people capable of passing these types of checks would be able to bypass the rigamarole of the TSA process.

If you think that it is bad now, then just wait. They're already using mobile backscatter trucks at large events. Eventually it will grow to make sure that we are safe at bus, rail, and train (subway included) stations. IMHO the DHS is poised to become the Stasi of America.

I have a CC permit and am safe to carry anywhere but a courthouse and airplane. We can train the police to shoot why can we not train pilots? I really believe an armed pilot would win over a terrorist with a box cutter.

I did some work inside of a state pen in '90. We got thoroughly searched, daily. I told the workmate that was the most fun I'd had since my wife left me.

It has a dual purpose, makes us feel safer and deters potential terrorism. It does in a way make flying safer but shifts the terrorist attacks to another area of our life. Killing terrorist is what makes us safer ultimately not reasoning with them.
You forgot one...Getting people used to standing in long lines, waiting to be shoved around by someone in a postion of authority....All you stinky people need to take a shower today.

Sure, I would love to see a bunch a nut cases all packing heat on my next plane trip from Atlanta. What a comfort that would be. As for pilots being armed I believe that has already been instituted in some flights on some airlines and I do not have a problem with that.

As for the rest who find the TSA procedures too cumbersome for your tender mercies,.....walking is good exercise.
