Its not any safer nor is it a small price.
I always am comforted to know that nobody else on the flight has any shampoo in their carry on.

Possibly, I actually prefer armed pilots and/or air marshalls. It does not deter anything. If someone wants to blow up a lot of people they could do it at the TSA line in the airport. If they just wanted to blow up a plane they would just air mail a bomb. What is deterring is that no one would stand by an let a hijacking happen after 9/11. The passengers are the deterrent not the TSA. The only way to repeat 9/11 is fill the plane with your people or rent an private plane.
TSA is a serous attack on the 4th amendment an has no real up side.
You forgot one...Getting people used to standing in long lines, waiting to be shoved around by someone in a postion of authority....All you stinky people need to take a shower today. It has a dual purpose, makes us feel safer and deters potential terrorism. It does in a way make flying safer but shifts the terrorist attacks to another area of our life. Killing terrorist is what makes us safer ultimately not reasoning with them.
Nut cases? People that go threw the trouble, 3 background checks an training to carry a firearm = nutcases?Sure, I would love to see a bunch a nut cases all packing heat on my next plane trip from Atlanta. What a comfort that would be.
walking is good exercise.
