TULSA area Cluckers

I can't stay home. I have to take our SUV in for new tires (perfect day for new tires), and I have to pick up some groceries.... bleck....

My kids are really excited though. They are begging for a snow day so they can play in the snow.

Today would be the perfect day to stay on the couch and read a book and draw plans for the garden.

Snow calls for more coffee...

I keep waiting for the school to call.

I have buff orpington chicks available.

Some pictures just for fun. What else is fun to do on a snowy day but post and look at chickens?

Isbars- I believe they will be laying in about a month. Can't wait for pretty green eggs! Rain(cockerel), Stormy (black pullet), and Drizzle (blue pullet).

Male Cream Legbar chicks- I'm keeping the left and right ones. I'm trying to figure out if down color is related to color quality in the adult rooster.

Their dad is Charlie, the rooster on the left. He is coming out of the breeding pen ASAP and being replaced by his son Hugger, on the right. Hugger has better coloring, type, leg color, and tail angle. Can't wait to see what HIS chicks look like!

This is Momma, isn't that an awesome crest?!?! AND one of the pullets started laying this week- so I should have 4 layers now!

Can't post pictures of her and not the pretty eggs of course!

And of course some BCM pictures. Big Stuff, the rooster, lost the points to his comb this winter. :(

Here's how some of our EEs are growing out. :)

You posting all these pics is not helping me in this moment!! The more breeds I see the more I change my mind about what I want to get.....

:)

I do have to ask, what are BCM? Are they the black chickens?

All your chickens look lovely!!

And the brown eggs are so dark!!

Thanks for the looksie!

Angela

BCM= Black Copper Marans. They lay those nice chocolatey eggs! The particular black ones in that pictures don't have much copper to them. Not sure that I'm keeping them. But a few of them lay a nice egg color so for now they stay. My "keeper" pair are the rooster and the hen with the nice copper hackles. I'm hoping she passes on her nice feathered legs as his are rather sparse. Trying to get to SOP with them so I can show them but I don't want to sacrifice egg color to get there. Good quality Black Copper Marans are scarcer than hen's teeth. LOL!
