Turkey Talk for 2014

Turkeys are large birds to feed and care for year after year. I could never pay my bills on $5 a poult. Our feed store raised its prices this year so I"m not buying more. Just cheaper to buy 15 and have them shipped.

That's for sure. I sell my poults for $10 each for 15 or more. $12 each for less than 15.

That is typical price for broad breasted ones my heritage ones cost me 11$ for one

This is my 1st year possibly having poults to sell. Our hen is a Narra/BR x and the tom is either our RP or the previous owners bronze. Do people expect to pay less for a x? What do you think the going rate would be?

I wouldn't know honestly I don't know about selling birds or hatching

Yes, cross breeds are usually less. Even Porter sells his cross bred varieties for less. His are $10 each, so I would think $8 to $10 is a fair price. A lot depends on the market where you are, though.

Quote: CHeck the lableling on Red Cell-- it is primairily a B vitamin supplement to build the blood of raice horses and performance horses, not an all around balanced vitamin supplement. THough perhaps that is what y ou are looking for.

I use a powdered viatamin to mix into the water as needed instead of the red cell which just sits on a shelf.

Yes, you are correct. I started using it on recommendation from a poultry judge at a show last year to help with a feather-picking problem with my Marans. Perhaps it is useful because of the extra iron, IDK, but we got into a routine of giving all the chickens a bowl of it every other day and I give it to my youngest chicks and poults, too, because it's here and handy

Other breeders have reported using it for chicks. It sure hasn't hurt them--all are growing well and healthy.
