Turkey Talk for 2014

Hi all, I got 100 turkey poults on Tuesday and 6 of them died in two days, do you guys have any tips? They have food/water all the time and the heat is always at 30 degrees Celsius, any ideas what the prob is?
Perhaps MORE feeders and waterers.

And keep showing them how to eat and find water . . . shipping is hard on the little ones, I"m actually amazed that shipping works as well as it does.

400

Our turkey poults got a new friend last weekend, I think they're getting along just fine!

Does anyone know where I can find turkey poults for less then 5 bucks a turkey? We get them from Rochester Hatchery an pay 5 per head. Or is that normal price?

I think that is an average price. I know that's where I would start with day old poults, if I have enough hatch that I decide to sell any. I may keep some til I can tell if they're toms or hens and then I will up the price to help pay for feed and because their survival rate would be higher.

Turkeys are large birds to feed and care for year after year. I could never pay my bills on $5 a poult. Our feed store raised its prices this year so I"m not buying more. Just cheaper to buy 15 and have them shipped.

Yes , they are shipped from the States, that is a really good idea to mark them! We are putting in a tablespoon of molasses per gallon but... is vitamins the same thing as protine? Cuz there's 28 percent protine in the feed. Thanx a lot! And were do you get Red cell?

No, vitamins and protein and different. Red Cell is a supplement used for horses, but a lot of people use it for their poultry. You can buy it anywhere that livestock supplies are sold.
