Is there medication for blackhead or it's like mereks where there is no cure? Anyways this time if I do get turkeys I'm gonna keep them separate and there not going to touch the ground.

I found this on Blackhead if you would like to read it.

I am sorry. I did not know that it was no longer being used in the US!

However Wisher1000 on the Old Folks Home thread was treating her birds for it and was successful if you want to talk to her to see what she used Wisher is very helpful.

There is no medication for blackhead that is FDA (or is it USDA? probably USDA ...) approved for use in animals destined for human consumption. Metronidazole is used by some to treat it when the bird or eggs are not going to be used for food.

Here is a pic of my Midget White's out on the prairie. They venture out and graze with our Katahdin hair sheep. Does anyone eat turkey eggs ? Can folks allergic to hen eggs eat turkey eggs instead ? Our hens started laying last month and we will be covered up with eggs soon. Since we don't raise chickens, we sure could use the eggs. I plan on letting the hens set on some and ship some out, but they sure lay a lot of them ! These small turkey are really great and don't eat your out of house and home - we have our horses to do that for us !

Wow dazzling birds, Very handsome! I do eat the first few eggs until I see fertility.
Then they ALL get hatched! Cant answer the allergy question, but do a google search.

Some people are allergic to all eggs, some to just certain species. It's an individual thing. I would have them consult their doctor before trying duck, turkey, quail, etc. if they are allergic to chicken eggs.

I love eating turkey eggs. I have customers who are allergic to chicken eggs, so they buy and eat my duck eggs instead. I'm not sure if they can eat turkey eggs or not.

Exactly! Their doctor told them that they could have duck eggs instead of chicken eggs.
