Turkey Talk for 2014

Yes. And I was wrong about price.
$13.48 for the 7' X 100'.

$5.98

This is lightweight stuff, but I don't know that a turkey will fly so hard into it, that it will break. Mine withstood the weight of snow and ice this winter. I like it because it is cheap, and because I can't find deer netting.

That's awesome! Thanks! A few tears later, & he's making me a pen for them this Thursday. Said he isn't going to cover it though. But that's ok, I'll just go get some of that Friday. I can definately cover it myself!!!!! I get to keep my turkeys!!!!!! :D

I used zip ties for putting it up.

That's what we use for our chicken coops too, to hold the chicken wire together. We just used about 400 zip ties yesterday finishing my bantam coop. That's y he REALLY didn't wanna make another pen! Lol He's sick of it, but he knows how much I love all my birds! :)

I know! I'm so excited! When he came home I told him I would take them to the swap Saturday, & I really was trying to be strong, but I still teared up. Then we went out to lock the chickens up later, & he was like, we could put up 6' chicken wire pen right back here, & it'll only be 2 extra "walls", because we will go off of our large fowl coop and our bantam coop and it will be easy and take no time! So glad he loves me enough to realize how important they r to me, even if they r "just birds" to him. Thanks everyone for letting me whine & for ur advice!!! It will get put to good use! ;)

Home Depot had the 7'x100' deer netting for around $15. That's what I am using. I finally got my landscaping timbers up only to find I have 5 rolls of no-climb horse fence froze to the ground and in my way. So, now I need to wait until it thaws.

I cracked open one of my turkey eggs today. It didn't look fertile. I am assuming my boy hasn't been allowed to do his job yet. I mean, they have only known each other for a week.

Just put my first turkey eggs in the hatcher. Originally set 8, of which 4 of them were found in a nest during the 18 degree days, we didn't know she was laying yet. I put those first four along with the next four she laid over the next 6 days in the incubator assuming that some would have frozen and be no good. I candled at 2 weeks and removed one dud and marked a possible quiter. Candled tonight and removed the marked one, so 6 out of 8 were good!!! I'm amazed, these are the first eggs from 8 month old royal palms. So eggcited to see them hatch this week.
