Is it botulism? Star gazing? Seems like bronchitis? I was told it was best to put her down but I don't want to lose her and really want to save her she's 8 months
Her neck is twisted and she has complications breathing, wheezing and beak open
Please Help?

I've recently been doing a lot of research on wry-neck/stargazing/torticollis, because one of our pullets has been having seizures with her neck stretched all the way under her! From the pictures I have seen this looks like stargazing, or wry neck, to me.

From what I have read generally this is caused by a vitamin E, B-12, and selenium deficiencies. Though it can be caused by other things such as injuries, or mareks disease. We are giving our girl nutri-drench (a strong poultry vitamin supplement) to see if it will help her. I will let you know if it does!

We are also looking into possible acupuncture for her. We don't want to lose our girl either!!! I will let you know if we find something that works for her.

Best wishes to you and your hen! <3

Torticollis/stargazing/wry neck is only a symptom, not a disease in and of itself. It could also indicate mareks disease-- since she is having strong breathing problems, I would look into that if I were you.

Thank you for your help I will keep investigating

There also doesn't seem to be a ton of information out there about wry neck and chickens other than what I just said. If you seem to come to a dead-end research-wise, and it doesn't seem like there is much you can do for her, I would highly recommend looking into alternative remedies.

Most regular vets won't do anything to help... This time I had found an avian vet and they put Junebug on anti inflammatory drugs and the only other thing I could do was all day neck stretches to keep her neck limber and keep it from freezing in that position. Oh and hand feeding if she can't do it on her own. I have gone all out on Junebug to fight it and we are at one week and three days from when it started and it looks like it MAY be about fixed... (unless I just jinxed it)
