You also know it is winter when your hands get so cold and stiff that it's hard to type after going outside... even with Carhartt's best gloves on ya. Or, maybe that's 'you know you're old'.

Lost another cockerel too. Am hoping I don't lose more---those were both young birds that had never endured a winter. Sometimes they just aren't cut out for life up here.

How do you manage to keep small birds with large birds together? I have had zero positive experiences in my attempts.
My tiny birds would become dinner for my big girls.
