They can have bigger combs and wattles this is one of my mums warrens Brenda. She came to mine to recover when mums dog attacked her ~

Aww bless she looks pretty health actually, she is probably lucky too because sometimes it could be a bit dangerous out there in the wild for them.

I know, she's done well! It's probably making me more relaxed about predators than I should be...but there's such a big difference between her and my little banties that I try to remember it'd only take a local cat to take one of mine I reckon. Being out in the sticks, I have a feeling the local gamekeepers keep an eye on the more obvious predators!

nice looking hen - does she have speckles or is it my eyes? Y'know, if she has been 'free ranging' for a while she likely wants to stay that way. Perhaps she's just checking you out for a possible 'winter vacation' spot...:), after all you have food and shelter...
