I discovered a surprise nest about two weeks ago that appeared to be a week away from hatching, well, they didn't so I threw all eggs out, no living babies. That's okay, I didn't need to be raising chicks during winter anyways.

Except...

I come outside today and this is running around the coop??? It actually looks to be two days old if not older, it's very energetic and already has tiny feathers on its wings.
The problem is, it's alone. I rummaged around in the dirt and actually found about three developing eggs which I stuck under a broody. But they appear to be about a week off still, if not longer.

Due to an argument, I lost my brooder house. The only place I could brood it is in my bathroom, but it would be by itself.
When it runs around, it follows just about everyone. Top rooster, cockerels, pullets, grouchy hens, etc. 3 Broodies are teaching it to eat as we speak, but I had to throw food on the ground. My Bantam coop is NOT chick friendly, it's dirt floor, raised feeders, open coop door 24/7, and large bowls for water.
Not to mention somewhere in here is a chick killer, last year three chicks were killed when they hatched during the night.

So... what am I supposed to do? I'm pretty stumped. Should I try to let the broodies raise it? Should I just take it away and raise it alone to be safe?

So I'm terrible at judging how far along eggs are, two more babies hatched yesterday. I now have 3 surprise babies. Since the one is no longer alone I think I will separate them from the broodies to avoid any accidents. They are so cute I'd never forgive myself if I let the broodies kill them.
Good idea. The broodied could fight over them.
