Unexpected hatch. Chick rubbed raw on turner.

Wow, I agree with everyone else. I think it will absorb the fluid pretty quickly and dry up. The baby sock could work well to keep it from rubbing on anything, once it gets to moving around a lot.

Cute chick too! How are the other eggs looking?
Thanks! The poor thing wants to walk so bad but is back on its hocks hopefully being free to move helps. The other eggs are looking good.

Do you have any veterycin spray gel?!

When you have a burn blister it’s important to keep it moist both so the outer skin doesn’t dry out and split , but also because it covers nerves and prevents pain.
Maybe spray it and wrap with a little strip of Saran wrap? The kind that sticks to itself.
If the blister pops, I’ll do that. For now, the blister is keeping it moist.

Awesome responses! I have nothing to add to these brilliant ideas! I think you'll find that the chick resorbs the blister fluid very quickly.

You might want to keep the chick separate from the other chicks so they don't peck at the blister, which chicks will.

If you don't have Blu-Kote, you can try a little Neosporin-type salve, as long as it doesn't have any pain killer in it. I've been told by SO many people that we shouldn't use anything with painkiller in it, so I follow that advice. Can anyone tell me why? It would be nice to know. Please?
