Christina, congrats on the grand opening, you have worked so HARD and for so long, I am so happy for you! Hope your DH continues to get better.
I wish I lived closer, this looks like a fun place you have!!
Thanks Lisa!!! Yes, so hard (not like I had anything else to do around here with the entire house being updated and a new addition being added, the horses who need training for the NRHA shows, the apiary which is being enlarged, and our new property which we are clearing). Craig keeps saying he wants to retire but I can't help but keep growing, with my business opportunities...lol. Have always been a workaholic and had my own businesses on the side, for the last 30 years. We still vacation and that is great, but I can't be idle. I figure our last trip to the West Indies and the Virgin Islands was good enough to wait another couple years to leave the states again...lol.
DH will be going back to work on Monday (sigh). It's been a tough time of things since he was diagnosed in November, with a week long stay at the Huntsman Center after a six hour long surgery. Now considered cancer free, for now. A blessing and miracle!!
Nice Christina! Congrats on the grand opening so very exciting!
Thanks Karen!!! Been a lot of work overcoming obstacles and delays... many of which should have ever been there.
Desert, your grand opening sounds AMAZING. I hope it's a huge success. Glad your husband is resting up and recovering well. I've been thinking about him a LOT. Glad you hired someone to help you with everything going on.
Kimmy, I have two legbar hens. Unfortunately, I lost my rooster. I want to move this spring, so I don't want to acquire anything new until I know where I'm moving. Desert Springs is going to be the way to go on legbars right now. Or possibly Donna, if she materializes again.
Thanks Wendy. It's building momentum fast!!! My SQ Choc Orps, SQ BBS Orps and SQ Lav Orp chicks are all spoken for, for the entire 2014 year.... some people driving almost 400 miles, from out of state to pick up. Had an order for 65 Delaware chicks this morning, and another 10 were previously spoken for. EEEK!! Plus, just last year I couldn't find good help.... this year I have a list of people who want to come work for me. Incredible!! I just don't want to get any bigger, contrary to what the public is requesting...lol. The two feed stores in this area are sporting my business cards on their counters now, at their request!!! I've always believed honesty and integrity meant a lot in a business; it's not all about the money. However. since this is a business, and no longer a hobby, I don't have the time to enjoy the chickens like I used to.
I don't have time to get on much, and it took me forever to catch up, so I finally just jumped current when I posted. Hope things are going well with you. BTW: I purchased ALL of Corvidae's crested Legbars last fall. She may have a couple uncrested; I didn't buy those. Did you want me to find out?? I know she was having problems at her property with thieves, and I had started running surveillance on it when I got that far west, but think she was burnt out with the chicken thing. She had started her focus on Whitmore Welsummers last I saw her.
nice to see you back! glad you are still doing the legbars. one day i will get one
Hello, hello. Not actually back...lol... just stopped in. I bought the Legbar flock from Corvidae last year to add to my few, and they are producing!!! I think I have 6 hens and three unrelated roos. When you're ready for one, you know where to find it.
